What is the GMEP, and what is it not?

The phenomenon known in Turkey as the GMEP, or the Greater Middle East Project, is actually not very well understood. Some trace the origins of the GMEP to the 2001 attacks on the Twin Towers in the US, while others point to the meeting held by the United States (US) with its partners at the 2004 G8 Summit. However, the GMEP is a much deeper project.

In Turkey, the GMEP became a topic of discussion following the statements made by our current President in 2004. On July 28, 2004, the then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "Currently, as a democratic partner, Turkey, Italy, and Yemen are involved in the Broader Middle East and North Africa Project as co-chairs of this project. We will monitor the progress of these countries in terms of democracy, freedoms, sovereignty, and economic development. Whatever we can do. We will strive to do whatever we can for regional peace, and for the prosperity and happiness of the region." In this way, we learned that the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey was a co-chair of the GMEP. Anyone can access the statements made by the then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding the GMEP with a quick search on Google.

In my opinion, as I will explain below, the GMEP is evidence of the US manipulating the world like a puppet. Its actual name is the "Partnership for Progress and a Common Future with the Region of the Broader Middle East and North Africa." In fact, the origins of this project go back to 1859, when the first oil was extracted in the state of Pennsylvania in the US.

However, in current terms, it is an ongoing project that was revealed 21 years ago in 2003 by Condoleezza Rice, the national security advisor to US President George W. Bush, who stated that "the regimes, borders, and maps of 22 states in the Middle East, from Morocco to the Persian Gulf, will change."

We will discuss the details of the GMEP project next week. Today, in this article, we are only providing the definition. Let us provide the following preliminary information for our next article: Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Israel's bombing of the Iranian Consulate in Damascus, and the historical fragmentation of Egypt, Iraq, and Syria are all part of the GMEP Project. The more accurately the GMEP is understood by politicians in our country, the more effectively Turkey's struggle for a "fully independent Turkey" against imperialism can be carried out.
