Abducting a woman from Anatolia!

Anatolia's historical artifacts have been looted for years.

Through illegal excavations, theft, and smuggling...

The primary reason for this is the European and American moneyed elite, who seek roots for their baseless cultural histories and view "historical artifacts" as commodities—goods to be bought and sold.

Or their ostentatious museums.

Yet, these artifacts are the historical heritage left to the people of Anatolia by "time."

One of the places where this looting, this robbery of historical artifacts, has been carried out most openly and with the most evidence is Bergama/Pergamon on the western coast of Anatolia.

One of the artifacts taken from Bergama to Germany, to Berlin—without a clear record of when it was taken or detailed documentation, and most likely smuggled—is a marble bust of a woman that, despite being worn, is clearly very beautiful.

The bust, which is 53 cm tall, has the registration number "Ident.Nr. AvP VII 95" at the Berlin Museum/Prison.

It can be seen that the top of the head of the woman, who has a graceful neck and neatly combed wavy hair, is covered with a small veil.

This veil shows that, unlike what is seen in other statues, the women of Pergamon did not cover their heads in a way that completely concealed their hair.

Covering the head in some way is one of the centuries-old forms of head covering for Anatolian women, but covering the head with a "turban" is not part of the Anatolian tradition.

Despite the wear on the right side of her head, a sad expression can be sensed on the woman's face.

The records of the Berlin Museum/Prison do not state the cause of the damage to the face of the marble bust.

It is unclear whether it was damaged by fanatical Christians hostile to sculpture at the dawn of Christianity, during the brutal excavations carried out by the then-German state-backed smuggler engineer Carl Humann and his gang, while being smuggled on the road, under bombs during World War II, or while being transported to and from Russia after the war.

What adventures the historical artifacts of Bergama have endured in the hands of smugglers!

Who knows how much damage they have suffered in the hands of this person or that.

They were supposedly taken to Berlin for protection!

It is reported that this sad woman's head was found on the ground or on the hillside to the north of the terrace where the Zeus Altar is located, on the Acropolis/Castle of Pergamon/Bergama.

The bust is dated to the second half of the 3rd century BC. That is, it was made even before the construction of the Zeus Altar.

Its antiquity is a sign of how precious and rare it is!

The sad expression on her face suggests that there were master sculptors in Pergamon even before the highly talented artists who designed and built the Zeus Altar.

Just like the others, this Bergama artifact was ruthlessly torn from the environment where it was created and smuggled/taken abroad by the officials of German Imperialism.

Through smuggling and dubious permits.

The body of the Pergamon woman to whom this head belonged has likely turned to dust in Bergama, but her image is in Germany.

Moreover, it is labeled as Prussian (the old name for Germany) Cultural Heritage/Property; "Preußischer Kulturbesitz."

Both funny and tragic!

How painful it is to see history being turned upside down!

The statues of Bergama are eagerly awaiting their return journey!
