With the development of technology, the dimensions of communication are changing. With the widespread use of social media platforms, people are constantly under a barrage of messages. This situation has become an important issue in terms of understanding and evaluating communication processes.
In order for communication processes to be understood correctly, messages must not be disconnected from their context. Communication can be understood correctly within the context in which it takes place. There is no such thing as communication without context. Because communication only gains meaning within a specific context. Communication in the context where messages are published in the digital medium is called 'mass communication'.
'Context', which holds an important place, covers all the elements that define the character of communication. Contexts, which point to a wholeness and are interconnected, also constitute the social, historical, cultural, economic, and psychological integrity of communication.
It is not correct to see the human in communication only as one who reacts. It is necessary to evaluate communication with the contexts of history, space, time, values, ideology, and identity. In cases where communication is unintentionally or deliberately detached from its context, the possibilities of different expressions emerging increase.
In posts made on social media, instantaneous, reactive, and emotional messages are given. Context is added by the people who are the recipients or targets of limited messages that do not fit into their context or whose context is unknown. Failure to establish context hinders understanding and meaning-making.
Since the context in which the sender is located, the context of the message itself, and the context in which the receiver is located are different from each other, it is the message itself that will ensure contextual harmony. In this sense, a message is meaningful and successful if it succeeds in connecting two different contexts. This is an important communication success. Simply using 'spam approaches', such as 'let me send the message, it will surely coincide with someone's context', completely breaks communication after a while and leads to the doors being closed completely.
In summary, for a message to be effective, it must be sensitive to the contexts of both the sender and the receiver. This means that the message must include correct timing, appropriate language, and content suitable for the contexts.
