For days, universities in the USA have been up in arms. Since October 7, 2023, protests for the people of Palestine have been continuing non-stop in many parts of the world, especially in European capitals.
In Islamic countries that claim to view the issue from a religious perspective, there is either a very faint voice or the matter is brushed aside with plenty of rhetoric.
Yet, standing with an oppressed people is enough to protest the occupiers and grow solidarity...
In Turkey, the situation is well-known. On one side, there are those who raid cafes and pour out coffee; on the other, those who try to use the Palestinian people for sharia propaganda, actually harming Palestine by doing so and causing support to narrow and weaken...
On one hand, those who engage in rhetoric while continuing trade and cooperation...
We have said it before, let us say it again. Support for Palestine is not religious, it is humanitarian! It is about standing with an oppressed people who are being massacred by imperialist powers supporting the occupying Israel, without regard for women or children, under the threat of 'genocide'. And that is why people—Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Deist, Atheist—are holding protests for Palestine all over the world.
Turkey, however, has failed in this regard, and continues to do so.
There is no voice coming from the campuses for Palestine either; have you thought about the reason?
Or why do the campuses have no voice at all?
Those who silence universities through pressure and turn campuses into barren lands, those who ban spring festivals, clubs, conferences, and panels, those who make students dependent on rote learning and diplomas through an education system that is constantly regressing, those who depoliticize them, and those who cause bright young minds to lose hope in our country due to economic crisis and social injustice; the wishes of the September 12 coup plotters and Kenan Evren have come true. A systematic policy of pressure and intimidation has been carried out against all forms of organized structures.
Universities, the most dynamic areas of society, have been kept under pressure. Academics have also received their fair share of this pressure. The autonomous structures of universities have been dismantled.
Student movements, which have played an important role in historical social changes and in objecting to the status quo, have gradually faded away.
The result is obvious, isn't it?
Doesn't this devastating silence bother you too?
It is not possible to build a “correct future” by keeping young people, who are the leading dynamics of society, out of the process!.. This issue is important and must be examined in a comprehensive manner…
