Let us not forget the children in Gaza!

A human tragedy is unfolding in Palestine under Israel's occupation, attacks, and massacres.

In Gaza, which has a population of 2.3 million, nearly 2 million people have been displaced due to Israeli attacks and forced expulsions. Palestinians who have been bombed, massacred, and driven from their homes and lands are now being starved, and are becoming targets of gunfire while waiting in aid queues...

Because food aid cannot reach them due to the blockade and closed border crossings, people, including children, are dying of hunger... It has been reported that as of August 5, 2025, 188 Palestinians, 94 of whom were children, have lost their lives in Gaza due to starvation.

Hunger and famine are growing... Water, medicine, and medical supplies cannot be found... A humanitarian catastrophe is taking place... And the world is watching all of this...

Since October 7, 2023, 64 thousand 20 people have been killed in Gaza. An unprecedented genocide is being carried out...

According to information provided by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), more than 18 thousand of those killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, are children...

Currently, 1 in every 3 people in Gaza cannot access food for days. The threshold of famine has long been crossed. More than 320 thousand young children are at risk of acute malnutrition.

There is not much left to say. There are things that must be done. A tragedy is occurring, and it must be stopped immediately. Rather than uttering the usual words, concrete steps must be taken to end this catastrophe!

Goodbye Professor Cüneyt...

Professor Dr. Cüneyt Akalın, a representative of the '68 generation, a Galatasaray supporter, a Mülkiye graduate, political scientist, journalist, author, and retired faculty member of Marmara University, passed away on August 3.

I had the privilege of taking his courses on politics, foreign policy, and the history of civilization during my time at Marmara University's Faculty of Journalism.

In the second edition of his book 'Civilizations from the Stone Age to Capitalism,' on which he worked meticulously for many years regarding the history of civilization—the history of humanity's transition from barbarism to civilization and beyond—Professor Cüneyt states that the history of civilization, in a sense, means humanity looking at itself in the mirror and reckoning with itself.

He points out that human civilization was born in the East, in West Asia, developed there, and was carried to the West years later. He also issues a warning to the people of these lands: "It is undoubtedly natural for Westerners to take pride in Rome and Ancient Greece. But we, the inhabitants of Anatolia, must think more deeply about Mesopotamia, the Hittites, and Anatolian civilizations. This is a requirement of being ourselves; furthermore, it is the only way to understand our own culture..."

Professor Cüneyt Akalın was a revolutionary intellectual and a significant figure in the field of political science with his independent, socialist, anti-imperialist, and National Democratic Revolution (MDD) stance. He will always live on through his books, articles, and works...
