A paradise for crime…

We are all going mad together. A state of societal insanity… 

There is almost no one left in the country who hasn't been involved in a fight. It is impossible to find someone who hasn't fought in traffic, on a ferry, on a train, or even on social media. A grocery store customer attacks the cashier, a taxi driver attacks a minibus driver, a singer attacks a flight attendant, and a student attacks a teacher. We watch it as if we are watching a movie.

A large portion of the youth no longer views committing a crime as a crime. It has become so normalized that they will almost refuse to give their daughter's hand in marriage to someone without a criminal record. 

Fighting and assault are no longer even counted. Moreover, they boast about it. When you say, "It will go on your record," they look at you and say, "So what if it does? It gives me street cred." 

There is no punishment for committing a crime anyway. If you are not committing a thought crime, you don't end up in prison. Look at the crime machine with 26 criminal records who was walking around freely. The system that failed to keep him inside or rehabilitate him caused the death of a young police officer. A rookie officer who started the job a year ago became the victim of this crime machine. 

The streets are full of mafias, both big and small. We are living as if we are on the set of Valley of the Wolves. Less than 24 hours after our young girl was taken from life, newspaper headlines featured news of young people clashing with police in Ankara. The police killer in Istanbul was 19 years old. The young people clashing with police in Ankara were also 19 and 22 years old…

The 19-year-old who opened fire after failing to comply with the police's 'stop' warning lost his life in the shootout. He had 12 criminal records. It turned out that the 22-year-old who was wounded in the same shootout had 19 criminal records. 

It defies reason, doesn't it? How do people with so many criminal records manage to roam the streets freely?

What the grandfather of the crime machine who killed police officer Şeyda Yılmaz said actually reveals who the real culprit is in all its nakedness. Regarding his grandson who is the killer, the grandfather says, "Why didn't they take care of him when this child escaped from the police station? We couldn't get the child into the house day or night. We sent him to the prosecutor so many times, we got restraining orders, we got arrest warrants." 

There is a problem with the scales of justice. Dangerous people with so many criminal records are on the streets instead of in prison… Those who launder money, run illegal betting, and commit fraud are outside… Crime machines from all over the world are flocking to Turkey. We are witnessing the settling of scores between foreign mafias in shopping malls. 

Once a person cannot walk on the street with their children without fear, neither economic hardship, nor the fighting of politicians, nor anything else matters. Isn't this the most important guarantee the state should provide to its citizens? 

What needs to change urgently in Turkey is not the Constitution, but the legal and justice system… If you don't address this first, if you don't ensure that the scales of justice weigh correctly, it doesn't matter what you do; it will be of no use. 

Neither the public's peace of mind nor the conscience of history will be at ease.
