A paradise for fraudsters

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has announced the names of new companies that have been adulterating food products. 

We are left speechless as we look at these lists, which are now updated almost weekly...

Everything we eat and drink is fake!

From pork in meatballs to horse and donkey meat sold as ground beef, tongue meat used instead of doner, vegetable oil in place of kashar cheese, and seed oil passed off as olive oil, it has been revealed that there are companies feeding these to citizens. 

It was determined that one of Istanbul's famous pastry shops was using offal instead of ground meat.

It is now impossible to tell what is fake and what is real in this country. 

There is no trust left in institutions either. For example, the fact that the famous whiskey brand Chivas Regal appeared on the list of adulterated foods published by the Ministry of Agriculture made people say, 'enough is enough.' 

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry had announced that alcohol not permitted for use in food and a lower alcohol content by volume had been detected in whiskey labeled Chivas Regal. 

A statement came from the company: “Six months ago, a sample of Chivas Regal taken from a dealer in Kadıköy during an inspection by the Ministry of Agriculture turned out to be problematic.

The matter was reported to us; we determined that the product did not originate from us and that an alcohol of unknown origin had been filled into collected empty bottles, and we immediately filed a lawsuit against the dealer.

However, while the lawsuit was ongoing, the ministry published such a list, creating the perception that there was a problem with the original product.

There is no harm in consuming original, tax-stamped products imported by us.”

If the company's statement is true, the situation is even more dire. Buying fake alcohol from a dealer and then blaming the brand! 

Speaking of a lack of trust in institutions, it had been alleged that the gendarmerie went to a 'faith healer' during the search efforts for Narin Güran, whose body was found in a creek in Diyarbakır. The claims about the faith healer were denied by the Governor's Office. 

Yesterday, in footage obtained by DW, it emerged that individuals who went to the Syrian border with Narin’s uncles were tracking Narin’s trail under the supervision of the Gendarmerie using pieces of wire in their hands. 

It is impossible to understand why you would deny it if such an event took place. Instead of saying, "We have launched an investigation into those responsible, and the necessary actions will be taken," who does denying it clear?
