After pork, alcohol found in kebab! We were going to be conservative, we became alcoholics

The process that began with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry exposing companies that engage in imitation and adulteration, revealing which brand names were selling fraudulent products and the nature of the deception, has turned into a 'Company of Miracles'.

After it was revealed that they were feeding people things that defy imagination, all hell broke loose on social media. Social media is already the medium we trust the most now! In the past, people like Seda Sayan were among the most trusted names in the country. She would shout and yell and occasionally get results, but now results are achieved faster on social media...

Following the process that began with the discovery of pork in the products of a famous meatball chain, the authorities could not withstand the pressure, and the lists of those selling these tainted products were updated, revealing new frauds.

We thought everything was over when pork was found in the meatball shop's products. Yet, this was just the beginning. What didn't come out? I can't even list them; our stomachs wouldn't handle it...

But the latest information is truly unbelievable. Tequila was found in the 'kuyu' (pit) kebab of a restaurant operating in Antalya. You read that right, tequila was found. The Mexican drink tequila came out of the kuyu kebab in Antalya. It didn't stop there; whiskey was also found in the kokoreç product of another company on the list.

Raki was also found in food sold at a game hall (okey salonu) operating in Antalya. Okay, we understood the meatball shop story; the guy sells meat. Let's say he used pork instead of normal meat to cut costs... But what is whiskey, vodka, and tequila doing there? Besides, in these expensive times, no sane person would add alcohol to any food.

Doesn't it sound like a joke?

It doesn't! In the 'New Turkey', nothing is like a joke...

The fact that alcohol was found in kebab does not necessarily mean that alcohol consumption in Turkey has increased, but the research data shared by Republican People's Party (CHP) Tekirdağ MP İlhami Özcan Aygun regarding alcohol consumption is real. Alcohol consumption has increased by almost half in the last 19 years.

When the last 19 years of the AKP government period are taken as a basis, it has emerged that there is an increase of over 46% in alcohol consumption. According to the research, while 895 million 979 thousand 304 liters of alcohol were consumed in 2004, this figure rose to 1 billion 310 million 744 thousand 36 liters in 2023.

In other words, citizens have drunk more during the period of the conservative government.

While beer consumption has increased by 39.3% in the last 19 years, wine consumption has increased by 142%. Raki consumption, on the other hand, has fallen by 5.2%. This is likely due to the constant price hikes on raki. You know those friends in Antalya who mix raki into food at the game hall; they either didn't notice it or they think they are putting fake raki into their sandwiches and hamburgers...

For example, take the whiskey found in the kebab and kokoreç...

Turkey has ranked third in the world in terms of whiskey consumption. After China and India, we are currently the third fastest-growing country in the world in the whiskey market.

So, as you can see, blurring raki glasses on television, banning alcohol advertisements, and even banning the serving of water in alcohol glasses according to the latest law, does not reduce alcohol consumption.

Perhaps this is a policy? They might be saying, "We scold those who drink alcohol, but you go ahead and drink. You don't question what we are doing when you're tipsy anyway."

Jokes aside, alcohol consumption in Turkey has increased with a serious momentum over 19 years and continues to do so. The worst part is the fake alcohol produced in underground facilities...

Due to the high cost of living and the almost daily price hikes on alcohol, citizens who turn to fake alcohol are going blind and losing their lives. I wonder now, when these unregistered fake alcohols are included in the statistics above, what percentage would the 46% increase in alcohol use over 19 years rise to? We were going to be conservative, we became alcoholics.

What can we say, cheers to Turkey, whether it's in the food or in the glass...
