Bets are open on when Erdoğan and İmamoğlu will shake hands

That the undisputed sole leader of Turkish politics is Erdoğan is something we have seen once again today. 

Erdoğan is so masterful at getting all other politicians to accept what he wants, no matter what, that even those who hurl insults at him afterwards somehow change their skin and eventually dock at the port he desires. 

In the past, Deniz Baykal, Bahçeli, and now Meral Akşener and even the brand-new Chairman of the CHP, which emerged victorious from the local elections, Özgür Özel…

Those who do not approach that port are either being wiped from the political scene or losing credibility in the eyes of their voters, and are even being accused of being AKP's men…

Erdoğan has attained such power that he is swallowing up all politicians, regardless of whether they are from large or small parties. 

There are so many politicians in the AKP's past who were incorporated into the fold and took on important roles… The list is endless. 

But Erdoğan's strategy of drawing party leaders to his side is an unprecedented success!

First, he brought in Devlet Bahçeli, who used to insult him three times a day from the party assembly podium. Now they walk arm in arm.

More recently, he took Sinan Oğan, who could be a decisive factor in the presidential election, under his wing. 

And now, Meral Akşener, who lost her seat as party leader...

Many claims have surfaced regarding the meeting between Akşener, who changed her image and dyed her hair before visiting the palace last week, and the President. 

We say to Ms. Meral: "Come out and explain what you discussed and why you went to the palace, and deny these claims so that your voters can be at ease."” we called for.

While Meral Akşener was thundering before the election, saying whatever came to her mind about Erdoğan and “If I turn back from this struggle, if I do not hold them accountable, I am a coward” she was saying. 

The former leader of the İYİ Party, who had remained silent for days following the meeting at the Palace, broke her silence today. 

Releasing a statement on her social media account, Meral Akşener targeted journalists, as we have become accustomed to from all politicians. 

She stated that what has been written and discussed does not reflect the truth and defended the President, whom she had attacked with harsh words dozens of times.

In her statement, Akşener said, "The allegations cast suspicion not only on me personally, but also on the independent Turkish courts and the President himself," he said. 

However, he still did not explain why he went to the palace...

What happened that made casting suspicion on his biggest rival suddenly more valuable than even explaining the situation to his own voters?

It is precisely because he forces his rivals to take these steps backward that Erdoğan's political maneuvers make him appear invincible. 

Some say he offers positions and status. Others say he has a file on everyone. Still others call him a brilliant political genius...

But the simple truth is that, at the end of the day, he gets what he wants.

There was no one who didn't guess that the reason for the visits taking place on the political stage in recent days was the new Constitution. But it has also become clear that the primary reason for President Erdoğan's visit to the CHP yesterday—his first since visiting Deniz Baykal in 2006—was indeed the new Constitution. 

Following the visit AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik made statements.

"Our Chairman and President has expressed his views that the steps necessary for Turkey to rid itself of the coup constitution should be taken not through narrow initiatives, but through the broadest possible ground of political consensus. He has defined the new constitution as a social contract that embraces all of Turkey. He states that the process of achieving a new constitution must be handled with a sense of responsibility and perspective that considers Turkey's future," he said, providing an official answer to the question of where these meetings suddenly came from. 

In other words, this new traffic of softening in politics regarding a new Constitution shows once again that he will take every step necessary. 

The photograph of Özgür Özel, who in the past would shout until he lost his voice, waving goodbye to the President as he left the party headquarters, is the clearest indicator that Erdoğan can get what he wants. 

While Erdoğan's rivals are lowering their sails one by one, the only hope for opposition voters still seems to be Ekrem İmamoğlu .
