Have Meral Hanım’s thoughts changed along with her hair color?

Weather forecasting is considered the most difficult job in the world. Predictions such as “It will rain today, the sun will come out tomorrow, the wind will blow at such and such intensity” are not predictions you can get right solely in the light of scientific data. 

The accuracy rate of meteorological forecasts varies according to the duration and detail of the forecast. For example, short-term weather forecasts for one or two days have a very high accuracy rate. However, the accuracy rate for long-term forecasts, such as one or two weeks, is lower and is generally around 50-60%.

Moreover, despite all technological capabilities, nature shows such variability that forecasts lose their meaning…

In Turkey, however, making predictions in politics is harder than weather forecasting!

Because the wind in Turkish politics blows in such a contrary direction that the voters chasing after that politician are often either caught in a storm or end up soaking wet!

In Turkish politics, the words spoken and the promises made have no importance. You say, “Yesterday was yesterday, today is today” and move on. One day you are seen at a reception with a glass in your hand, and the next day you are waving a Quran. One day you are a leftist, the next day you become a conservative.

For instance, it is permissible to say anything to your opponent. 

You take the podium and start cursing and swearing…

Your opponent is left with no honor, no patriotism, no honesty, and no truthfulness… 

Then, suddenly, a photo appears in the media of your greatest enemy, whom you have been cursing and insulting for a long time.

You are shaking hands and smiling at each other like forty-year-old friends…

Sometimes you even become partners. All the bad words you said are forgotten; you become each other's friends, confidants, and companions.

There is a chameleon-like shape-shifting in Turkish politics…

You suddenly become bosom buddies with your greatest rival, whom you insulted while competing and against whom you made grand statements like “I am a coward if I do not hold you accountable.”

You visit each other, embrace, and shake hands. You say, “We did not come to divide, we came to unite,” and wash your hands of the matter.

As I said, it is like a chameleon; shape-shifting has now become fashionable. When you appear differently, when your image changes, your ideas change too. 

For example, you take off your glasses, change your hairstyle, wear contact lenses… Or you change your hair color and run to the side of the opponent you once spoke harshly about…

The photos taken the other day of Meral Akşener, who had her hair dyed and went to the palace, looking into President Erdoğan's eyes with affection while shaking hands, attracted the media's attention for this very reason.

The question arose: Have Meral Akşener's ideas changed along with her hair color after changing her image?

We had experienced this with Devlet Bahçeli in the recent past. One cannot help but wonder: what must have happened for resentments, grudges, and insults to be forgotten so quickly?

Think about it: you disagree with your neighbor about an issue and you trade unspeakable insults. A short while later, you are hugging, embracing, and even going into business together. It doesn't seem very normal, does it?

The IYI Party made a statement today. They invited Ms. Akşener to explain the content of her meeting with the President at the Palace…

Following the meeting, what isn't being discussed in political circles? From the Vice Presidency to the allegation that Meral Akşener's son was appointed as the Ambassador to Paris?

We, of course, do not know if these are true or not, but what the entire public expects is for Meral Akşener to come out and make a statement.

At the very least, it is the citizen's right to know what stance Akşener, who criticized Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's policies enough to say “I am a coward if I do not hold you accountable,” took in this meeting.

While sitting in her party's chairmanship seat, she owes an explanation to those who voted for her because of these statements.

She could come out and say, “I was wrong, I support the government's policies,” or she could say, “I went to hold them accountable.”

She could even say, “I saw the right path after losing it, just like Sinan Oğan…”

It is necessary to clearly remind Ms. Meral Akşener that in the past, there were various criticisms from the MHP wing that she had changed sides multiple times and stabbed her MHP nationalist comrades in the back. 

In fact, former Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu had made very serious accusations about Akşener during a mass opening ceremony he attended at Atatürk Square in Aydın. 

In his speech, Soylu stated, “I did politics with her in the True Path Party (Doğru Yol). We never trusted her. She betrayed Tansu Çiller in the True Path Party. She came to the AK Party at its founding, and she betrayed Tayyip Erdoğan there too in one day. Then she went to the MHP, to Devlet Bahçeli. She betrayed the Nationalist Movement Party in one day. Now she is spinning the Table of Six around. She is waiting for the day to betray them. Meral Akşener has 'betrayed' everyone she has come together with; she is never to be trusted…”

Now, what Soylu said is being discussed again in the corridors. Allegations that the reason she dismantled the Table of Six was actually a Trojan Horse tactic are coming to the agenda again. 

Meral Hanım, refute all these criticisms with language as harsh as when you slammed your fist on the podium before the election and said “I am a coward if I do not hold you accountable,” and explain to your voters why you went to the palace.
