As you know, 2025 has been declared the 'Year of the Family'.
The Year of the Family arrived with good news! The package includes aid.
Accordingly, 5 thousand lira in aid will be provided for the first child.
Child support will be provided as 1500 lira per month for the second child, and 5 thousand lira per month for the third and subsequent children.
Young people taking their first step into marriage will be provided with interest-free loan support in the amount of 150 thousand lira, with a 48-month maturity and a 2-year grace period.
The Year of the Family is a great idea, just like the 'Year of the Retiree' declared last year…
Although our retirees didn't really notice that it was their year last year, but never mind, it was their year.
It is unknown whether families will be able to grasp that this year is the 'Year of the Family', but according to data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), our families do not seem like they will be able to prosper with such a year.
In terms of "Household Net Wealth," calculated based on money or stocks held in bank accounts, primary residence, other real estate, vehicles, valuables, and other non-financial assets, we are 5th from the bottom among 38 countries.
Our families are approximately 10 times poorer than households in Luxembourg, Iceland, and Belgium.
This information is included in the OECD's 2024 'How's Life' report. I wish the report were limited to just this! We would hope, "Since it's the Year of the Family anyway, we'll pull ourselves together!" However, there is data in the report that makes our hearts sink while reading it, and the hardships experienced while living it are another matter entirely…
Returning to the report, we are in last place among 41 countries with 4.9 points in terms of "Life Satisfaction." While the average life satisfaction score in OECD countries is 6.7, it came out as 4.9 in Turkey.
In the social injustice ranking, we are second from the bottom. We are one of the 2 countries with the highest social injustice. We are proud that we are not alone here.
In Gender Inequality, we are again in last place among 41 countries. 41 times mashallah…
According to the published report, Turkey is 3rd from the bottom among OECD countries in Air Pollution with "PM2.5" levels of 27.1 micrograms per cubic meter.
This is many times higher than the annual guideline limit of 10 micrograms per cubic meter set by the World Health Organization. But we are not in last place, this is also very important!
We are 2nd from the bottom among 41 countries in the employment rate.
Despite our new education system, the 'Turkey Century Education Model,' we have also failed in education. According to PISA reports, an average student in Turkey can score 462 points in mathematics and science with the education they receive. With this success (!), we are 7th from the bottom among OECD countries.
Let's say the foreigners who prepared the report did not understand or were jealous of our Turkey Century Education Model curriculum, which aims for the pinnacle of material development with our collection of National and Spiritual values. But the report revealed that our students are hungry. Turkey is the worst-performing country in the report in terms of access to food for 15-year-old students. While the rate of students who say they could not eat at all for at least 1 day a week in the last 30 days is 8 percent in OECD countries, it has reached 20 percent in Turkey.
Our life expectancy in the report is 78.6 years. We are in 30th place among 41 countries. This data probably raised us to 30th place because of our outlook that "there is always hope as long as there is life"!
Do not say, "Brother, which are the OECD countries, why are they comparing us to them?" Because Turkey is one of the 20 founding countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Countries like Japan, Finland, Australia, and New Zealand joined the organization later.
But this is not the only research. In the US, an international research team developed a promising approach to treating mental health problems by erasing bad memories in an experiment they conducted.
A series of memory-enhancing methods applied to the subjects were associated with affirmation. Scientists stated, "We observed that this procedure weakens the recall of negative memories and increases the involuntary emergence of positive memories in the mind."
If this experiment is successful, we will not remember all our bad memories. Just think, perhaps we would forget the negative data in the OECD report and the difficulties we have experienced, and our life expectancy in the report would increase from 78.6 years to 90 years, and we would place higher on the list.
If we had no bad memories, life would be a bed of roses. There are so many negatives that we should forget and not remember; hopefully, scientists will be successful in this field as soon as possible. Amen…
