Antidepressant use in Turkey has increased by 67 percent in the last decade! It is impossible to understand why people have turned to antidepressants when everything is so rosy!

CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut issued a written statement regarding the rise in antidepressant use over the last 10 years.

Bulut announced that antidepressant use, which was 39 million 134 thousand 225 boxes in 2014, rose to 65 million 591 thousand 252 boxes last year. 

65 million boxes! In a country of 80 million, that is almost one box per person…

A retiree receives 14 thousand 491 liras. The minimum wage for a worker is 22 thousand 104 liras… 

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), in which the public no longer has any confidence, announced the inflation data for January. The consumer price index (CPI) increased by 5.03 percent in January 2025 compared to the previous month, and by 42.12 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The increase in the CPI according to twelve-month averages was recorded at 56.35 percent.

The Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkey (TEPAV) announced the food price index data for the January 2025 period. Accordingly, it showed an increase of 3.90 percent in January 2025 compared to the previous month, which was the highest monthly food inflation rate in the last 10 months.

The numbers in these announced figures do not matter; what matters is the acknowledgment of the increases… Everything from needles to thread is getting a price hike. 

Purchasing power has fallen, there is no trust left in institutions, and immigrants have invaded the country. Those dying in fires, mafia settling scores, the worthlessness of human life, our education system not being recognized globally…

Bring me two more boxes of antidepressants, brother… I’m just about to lose it!
