Preparing for a disaster scenario: “Stock up on batteries!”

The new trend of our day is the fear of an impending ‘digital disaster’. 

Governments have already started taking precautions against a ‘digital disaster’… 

Isn't it easy to not fear disasters while consuming natural resources and causing all kinds of harm to the world in the name of technology and development, and then say, “Let’s save our world”?

“The brazen thief blames the homeowner”—we are both guilty and powerful!

There is also a new discourse lately… “Renewable energy!”

States, large industrial organizations, politicians, and business people who have planted dynamite under our planet all have the same refrain on their lips: ‘Green energy, renewable energy’

But isn't it your insatiable greed that is eating up and finishing the world? 

Weren't coal, oil, and minerals the riches you set your eyes on…

Didn't you tear apart trees, forests, seas, and even the ozone layer for more power? 

While you see the fact that the rockets you launch to send satellites into space are turning the ozone layer into a sieve, don't you welcome the crazy billionaires who do this with red carpets? 

It is as if factory worker Mr. Süleyman disrupted the balance of the world, and ironing lady Ms. Ayşe plundered the trees and forests to search for minerals; the world's superpowers and the richest business people have suddenly become nature-friendly! 

These superpowers and super-rich people have even set their sights on planets and dreamed of establishing colonies out of fear that the world's resources will run out…

At the ‘2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference’ held at the beginning of November, where the effects of the climate crisis were discussed, the international aid organization Oxfam published a report.

The report stated that by 2030, the carbon footprints of the poorest 50 percent would remain well below the level consistent with the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Agreement, while emphasizing that the impact of the richest 1 percent in the world on carbon emissions could be 30 times higher than it should be.

And then “Let’s save our world”… Get out of here!

Now there is a digital disaster scenario at the door. There is fear of a technological collapse… 

‘No’, this is not some conspiracy theory; governments are seriously concerned about taking precautions against this. 

Recently, UK Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden warned citizens, saying, “Stock up on candles and batteries!”

Will the empire on which the sun never sets be left in need of candlelight and battery power?

The Deputy Prime Minister said that a disaster would disrupt digital devices and that preparations should be made to return to an ‘analog’ age in the event of a collapse of internet and power systems…

And he added: “Stock up on candles, batteries, and battery-powered radios!”

He also announced an official government website that will be launched next year, which will offer advice on how to prepare for natural disasters, epidemics, and malicious acts such as cyberattacks or terrorism. 

Dowden also warned that artificial intelligence poses a 'chronic risk' and will increase the risks of cyberattacks and even the threat posed by chemical weapons.

He says it well, but isn't the reason for artificial intelligence studies also to earn more? 

Didn't we watch like a TV series the high-level dismissals and fights at Open AI that would put the script of an intrigue-filled drama to shame, all happening for the sake of earning more?

Let’s take the words of the UK Deputy Prime Minister as a warning more for natural disasters, but who prepared the ground for these natural disasters, who disrupted the balance of nature?

As they say, history repeats itself; how many times has the world hit ‘reset’ on civilizations since its existence and started the story from scratch?

By stocking up on batteries and candles, we might be able to take precautions against the fear of going back 30-40 years, but if ‘Mother Nature’ cuts us a real penalty, our extinction, like ‘Noah’s Flood’, will become the subject of legends…
