It is not Beşiktaş that is dishonorable…

Yeni Akit, which calls itself a 'newspaper' but engages in all sorts of activities other than journalism and has always operated outside the bounds of press ethics, committed another scandalous post yesterday that the whole of Turkey is talking about.

First of all, I would like to remind them that they are accusing not Beşiktaş, but the Republic of Turkey and its institutions of being 'dishonorable.' Therefore, I will not be criticizing a publication or a colleague here. My criticism is directed at a structure that accuses offices and institutions, not at a newspaper, because this is not journalism.

Content published by the structure called Yeni Akit, which calls itself a newspaper, drew a major reaction from the Beşiktaş Club and its fans.

The content (I cannot even bring myself to call it news, because it is not news) contained harsh expressions regarding the fact that the Beşiktaş-Maccabi Tel Aviv match, which was supposed to be played in Istanbul in the UEFA Europa League but was moved to a neutral venue due to security measures, is being played on neutral ground.

In the content, which was also shared on their social media accounts and published under the headline "Secret danger in UEFA: Mossad has taken UEFA into its palm," the phrase "If UEFA bows to Israel's impositions and takes the field, there will be no club on earth as dishonorable as Beşiktaş" was used.

Hold it right there, brother! You are not a newspaper, that is fine, but making a post containing insults even from a social media account is a crime!

What kind of audacity is this that you can make such an indecent post?

Beşiktaş is not only one of the most respected non-governmental organizations in sports history, but also in the history of the Republic. Just like all other clubs…

If you are able to make this publication today, you must recognize the services that our distinguished clubs like Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Galatasaray provided during the founding of the Republic.

Well, of course, being an enemy of the Republic is another dimension of the matter, but if you are forced to delete this post you made, it means you realized the blunder you committed!

Furthermore, where do you find this audacity?

You are ignorant enough not to know that UEFA did not make the decision. The statement made by the Turkish Football Federation regarding the matter is as follows: "It has been decided that the UEFA Europa League match, in which Beşiktaş will face the Maccabi Tel Aviv team on November 28, 2024, will be played in a neutral country as a result of meetings held with the authorized institutions and organizations of our state and the authorized boards of UEFA."

When the phrase 'authorized institutions and organizations of our state' in the statement is taken as a basis, is it possible for Beşiktaş to oppose this decision?

The state made the decision. In this case, who are you calling dishonorable? If we need to talk about honor, we need to look at what you have done in the past.

It is not anyone's place to call the state's institutions and organizations, or one of Turkey's oldest and most respected sports clubs, 'dishonorable.' It is certainly not your place. Do not even try to pin this on a single employee; this is the product of a mentality.

Moreover, this is not the first time you have used this vulgar language... You are the ones who used the headline 'Pimp' for people whose opinions you did not like, you are the ones who wrote 'Anırkabir' (a derogatory play on words) on the screen crawl (the explanatory text seen at the bottom of the screen while news is being broadcast) for Anıtkabir and then stepped back claiming it was a crawl error... You are the ones who published the advertisement saying 'We would have existed even without you' for the founder and savior of the country!

You are even the ones who used the headline 'The country has turned into Texas. The Kemalist regime produces crime machines' regarding a criminal with 26 prior convictions martyring a police officer.

In the statement it released regarding the post, Beşiktaş stated, "Beşiktaş is Turkey's oldest and most respected sports club, which has kept the state's priorities ahead of its own throughout its 121-year history.

It is loyal to its homeland, holds its nation in high esteem, and is always by the side of its state."

Now let us ask, "How much are you by the side of the state? While trying to attack Beşiktaş with your ignorance, you insulted the institutions of the state.

Let us even ask it this way: "Who is dishonorable?"
