Tell me your salary, and I'll tell you what you do for a living!

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

The other day, there was an outcry from a young woman on social media. Having just left a job interview, she expressed her frustration in a broadcast. The woman, who was offered a salary of 15 thousand TL, rebelled against the offer, saying, "Did I study for nothing? Even the minimum wage is 22 thousand lira."

Naturally, newspapers picked up the story, and the young woman's outcry went viral instantly. It was even alleged that the person who made the job offer said, "So what if you studied? Do you think you'll get a high salary just because you went to university?"

At the point we have reached today, unfortunately, there is no value left in education. It no longer makes sense to be a manager or to study and work in certain sectors.

Let me tell you about the monthly earnings of some professional groups.

Let's start with our own profession.

For example, to work as an editor at a newspaper, you must be a graduate of the relevant department at a university. You must have a command of Turkish and, if possible, a second language. You must follow the news agenda. There are dozens of responsibilities. But as it turns out, my colleagues working as editors at a newspaper earn between 35 thousand and 70 thousand. Don't let the 70 figure fool you; those earning 70 are very senior journalists. So, the average is 40-45 thousand.

However, a primary school graduate working as a porter for a firm at the wholesale market earns a salary of 50 thousand TL. General practitioners earn an average of 40 thousand TL. But a bricklayer's daily wage starts at 40 thousand lira. For those working daily, it can be even more.

Bank clerks work for an average of 40 thousand lira, and teachers for 50 thousand lira. Being a craftsman is certainly important, but there is no point in having an education anymore. Just as the middle class has disappeared, there seems to be no difference in earnings between professions; in fact, sometimes physical labor pays more.

But it is normal. The lack of income disparity between professions ensures peace in society. Everyone is equally in debt to their credit cards, and everyone has the same level of purchasing power.

While the nation says, "We don't have enough money, we can't eat well," and waits in queues for cheap bread and meat, the country's Minister of Health says, "Many health problems are linked to being overweight. There are two basic ways to lose weight. You will move, and you will not fill your stomach completely."

Whether you are a teacher or a bricklayer, the authorities are doing their best to make sure you don't fill your stomach too much!
