The reality of a society with fake educators also darkens

A society's light is its teacher. If its teacher does not shine, the nation remains in darkness. We have such teachers, academics, and rectors... They don't just turn off the light; they cut the building's electricity, remove the meter, and leave. Now, let's look together at this academic dark age, which cannot be illuminated even by a candle, through three examples.

It seems that being selected for high-level positions in the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) no longer depends on winning a Nobel Prize, but on the ability to rotate the "revolving fund." Karabük University Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Kırışık has turned even Adam Smith, the father of capitalism, in his grave regarding salary. Not content with his monthly academic salary of 150 thousand TL, he has built a massive academic patisserie for himself worth 1.2 million TL by taking a "piece of the pie" from every institution within the university.

That wasn't enough; he lives in a villa in Safranbolu, and the university pays the rent. A kind of academic Airbnb! When traveling, he receives a daily allowance of 250 Euros in the name of "scientific matrimony." He renews his car, buys a house, and every time he says it was a "research trip." Wouldn't one ask, professor; what kind of research is this? Even Newton didn't discover gravity by traveling as much as you!

Let's move to the second case: Prof. Abdulvahap Akıncı from Kocaeli University. With a post he made on social media, he attempted to spit not only on Mustafa Kemal Atatürk but also on the memory of this country.

When we think of a scientist, Einstein still comes to mind, but thanks to individuals holding the title of "professor" working in some of our country's universities, we no longer have any respect for scientists.

Here is an academic miracle who shouts at a pharmacist's humanity-filled post, which mentions Atatürk with a medicine metaphor, saying, "Are you going to give three doses of Atatürk a day?": Abdulvahap Akıncı, who serves as a professor at Kocaeli University!

A pharmacist hangs a photo of Atatürk on their wall and writes underneath: "The best medicine: Atatürk." While even this sentence provides morale to a nation's memory, our professor is offended by it. Moreover, he doesn't just get offended; he stomps with all his might in the social media gutter, saying, "The man will come and ask for cancer medicine, are you going to give a pinch of Atatürk?" I don't even have the tongue to repeat the sentences here that have broken the dam of insult and disrespect, but what is left to say to someone whose sense of shame has cracked?

Oh, Abdulvahap teacher(!), who holds the prescription for your mind? Because this level of ignorance is difficult to fix not just with science, but even with rehabilitation. This mindset, which goes crazy because a pharmacist wrote Atatürk, should only be allowed inside the university gate by security, let alone producing science. And if no serious sanctions have been applied to him yet, the "cradle of science" sign at that university's gate stands quite ambitiously.

For some, Atatürk is still the greatest antibiotic: against ignorance, bigotry, and the microbes of insolence. That is why, if you begrudge even that "pinch" while the nation still says "a pinch of Atatürk," the disease you have is no longer just academic, but a national immunity problem!

Decorating ignorance with science and presenting it to society has become the new popular field of academia today. These so-called academics who target Atatürk are enemies of both the honor of science and the ethical principles of the profession. He has a robe but is empty inside; he has knowledge but no conscience.

And the final act: The article by Prof. Dr. Metin Dağdeviren, the lead author of the YÖK report that had Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma canceled, which was published in an international journal, was retracted due to "irregularity." The journal retracted it with regret, but our academic is still on the defensive. As if he were on the same list as Einstein, he says, "I am one of the most influential scientists in the world." Yet, his article is basically artificial intelligence soup!

Now one must ask:

Which youth can these academics serve as role models for—those who make the state pay their rent while living in a villa, who think the revolving fund is an end-of-month receipt, who gain clout by insulting Atatürk, and who darken the futures of real people with fake articles?

If these educators are filling their own pockets instead of enlightening our children, does the diploma, the chair, or the scientific publications have any validity left?

Is the rectorship no longer a position of knowledge, but a position for tenders?

A country rises with its education. But we are suffering not from education, but from "educated opportunists." If we continue at this speed, instead of a diploma, a title deed will be given, instead of a laboratory, a foreign currency safe will be installed, and classrooms will become "money counting rooms."
