Enough is enough…
Istanbul University has opened its doors to the public…
Is this a publicly traded company or a museum that you are opening it to the public?
Where in the world does such nonsense happen?
Citizens who heard that the university had opened to the public headed for the Beyazıt Campus.
Students shared photos on social media. While the kids were trying to study, citizens were running wild inside!
A SERIES OF ABSURDITIES!
You don't need to be a fortune teller to predict what will happen after a while.
First, Aunt Ayşe will take her cakes and pastries and gather the neighbors. She will organize a trip to her son's law class to show off to the neighbors, saying, “Come on girls, we’re going to Tolga’s school. Let’s see for ourselves how my one and only son studies.”
All the aunts will try to enter the classroom and wave at Tolga. Aunt Ayşe will be proud.
Anyone who is bored will say, 'Let’s go and take a look at that school,' and enter the classrooms.
Harassers and abusers will flock to the campus to see the female university students. As if women weren't already struggling to walk down the street comfortably, they will now face verbal and physical harassment at school as well.
Groups with various political views will flood the schools. As if the tension between students with different opinions on campuses wasn't enough, there will also be those who bring their 'big brothers' along.
A FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD
Who will be held accountable if a few 'enlightened' (!) ignorant people, taking seriously the words of Prof. Dr. Bülent Arı—who appeared on television screens and said, “As the literacy rate increases, I get anxious. I trust the common sense of the ignorant, uneducated, and illiterate segment of this country more”—decide to seize the school?
How can such a major security vulnerability be ignored?
What kind of negligence, what kind of ignorance is this?
If someone with a gun can walk into the school as they please, if a child who came from their hometown to study is followed by someone with a blood feud, if a stalker obsessed with a young girl knows he can find her at school, if the school becomes a target for terrorists, which one of you will be able to account for it?
WHO IS THE RECTOR WHO APPROVED THIS?
Even when students have to show ID to enter the school, opening the gates to everyone is a betrayal of the school, education, science, the students, and everything else we can think of.
The rector who made the decision, Osman Bülent Zülfikar, said, “We have complied with the definition of a university without walls!”
There is no such thing as a university without walls, but thanks to you, we have learned that there is such a thing as an insensitive professor.
One must ask Zülfikar: if citizens had entered his classes while he was a university student, how comfortably could he have studied? If an 'Uncle Ahmet' watching him work on a cadaver had shouted, “Cut it well, son… No, not like that,” could he have become a professor with that lack of focus? Could he have received the awards he did? Could he have become famous on the television programs he participated in?
Or could he have shared the grievance he experienced at a hotel with his family on the official page of the university where he is rector?
Now that I think of it, what was the professor saying on the official site? He was complaining that he had made a hotel reservation with his family and was kept waiting for hours to check into their room.
Mind you, he was doing this on the official website of the university where he is rector!..
Well, if students trying to make it to class now have to wait at the doors of their classrooms because of citizens who want to enter the school, will the rector write about this grievance on the official site again?
The people of our country, accustomed to seeing doctors and engineers with fake diplomas, will now see fake students too. How will instructors and students distinguish those who enter the school as if they were students?
My dear rector, if one day a relative of one of your former patients shows up at your door because there are no walls at this university, will you be able to say with the same brazenness, “We had removed the walls”?
Or will you also remove your walls and open your office doors to visitors, or even to students?
A mental block has permeated every segment of society…
From the grocer to the greengrocer, from the engineer to the taxi driver, from the bureaucrat to the professor, no one knows what they are doing…
And not only do they not know, but they also boast about the nonsense they commit!
Don't be afraid; no one from the outside can harm this country. We are already capable of doing all kinds of nonsense from within and harming it more than anyone else can…
