Social media is so central to our lives that nothing else was discussed in newspapers, on television, or on any social media platforms that were not subject to the access ban.

Instagram’s closure, when it might be reopened, and arguments over who is right or wrong have already been written and discussed by everyone. Statements were made by the government regarding the issue, the opposition expressed its reaction, and CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal even filed a lawsuit with the Ankara Administrative Court to stay the execution of the decision.

The question I am more curious about is whether there is anyone left in Turkey who actually does their job properly...

While Instagramhas been blocked in the country, a 'Happy Friday' post was made from President Erdoğan's Instagram account. Of course, the President does not use this account himself, nor does he sit there on Fridays with his phone in hand, waiting to make these posts.

However, how is it that advisors make such a post on a platform that has been blocked, only to delete it later?

It is truly difficult to be a politician in Turkey! Because of a mistake made by your team, you can become the talk of the town, even among children.

Indeed, because of this post, on social media "Which VPN is the President using" many things were written and discussed, even leading to this question.

This is not limited to the President alone. Press advisors and social media experts in the opposition, the ruling party, and even the private sector make such incomprehensible mistakes...

You entrust these accounts, which bear your own signature, to others, but one meddlesome individuals can put prominent politicians in difficult situations and cause companies to suffer millions of liras in losses.

That is what happens when anyone can become a social media expert or a press consultant. It is not just in this sector anymore; whenever we find someone who does their job properly, we feel like hugging and kissing them.  

Moreover, social media is not a subject to be underestimated these days. The blocked Instagramhas 57 million users in Turkey. Advertising has now shifted from television and newspapers to social media platforms.

Emre Ekmekçi, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association (ETİD), stated that the loss caused by the shutdown of Instagram in e-commerce would amount to 1.9 billion TL.

Several influencers I spoke with said, 'We feel like business owners whose factories have been shut down. We invest to promote ourselves and to stay in the spotlight. We pay for advertising, hire photographers and videographers, and produce content. It feels as if our businesses have been locked up overnight.'

In short, social media is a massive platform today. One must be careful when using it, and also when entrusting it to others...

While our country's agenda is Instagram, due to developments in the Middle East,airlines are suspending flights to Israel and Lebanon for security reasons. Some countries are issuing warnings to their citizens, urging them to evacuate from high-risk countries or advising them not to travel to those regions.

We are banning Instagram, while Meta, the parent company of Instagram, is restricting the access of the Diyanet.

Our agenda is a social media feud, but there is a more serious conflict nearby, and its consequences are worrying the entire world.

We are only preoccupied with whether or not we can scroll through our screens!
