You know how we keep saying “tourism is over”...
Well, it really is over!
Between the dance scandals in our various tourist regions, the disgraces staged under the guise of shows, and the exorbitant prices, we are no longer a center of attraction for foreign tourists...
Going to the Greek islands is more appealing for both foreign and domestic tourists.
Speaking of domestic tourists, let's take a look at their situation.
Tourism is not just about tourists coming from abroad. The contribution of domestic tourists to the sector is also huge. Sorry, it *was* huge!
But forget about people traveling for a vacation... People are in such a state that they cannot even set out to see their friends, loved ones, or relatives. Visiting elderly family members during holidays and special occasions has become a dream. The cost of living has reached such a point that people are now struggling just to feed themselves.
Recently, news reports regarding public opinion polls have been appearing in the media. The other day, I came across data that would make anyone say “what a pity.” According to Eurostat data, 57.4% of the population in Turkey cannot even afford a one-week vacation per year. Among families with children, this rate has exceeded 70%.
In other words, as you can see, Turkey is once again playing for the “top spot” in this area... But in reverse!
According to 2024 data from the European Statistical Office, Eurostat, the rate of the population aged 16 and over who cannot go on vacation across Europe is 27%. In our country, it is 57.4%.
You know how we always say, “Germany is jealous of us... England is jealous of us... France is about to burst with envy...”
In those countries we are jealous of, people can go on vacation twice a year—once in summer and once in winter—without straining their family budget.
In our country, people do calculations not just for vacations, but even when going to the market.
But you won't see this on the screens. Because there are some friends on television who pontificate and think they are journalists.
They say a kilo of tomatoes costs this much in Europe, potatoes are burning hot, Europeans can't find bread...
Get out of here!
These types of studies don't enter their radar. Because these data don't serve their interests.
While they give the public suggestions like the sermons of the Diyanet, telling them to “make do, be grateful, be patient,” they themselves receive high salaries from several places at once, give advice to citizens from the screens, and take their vacations whenever and wherever they want.
As you know, another topic discussed in recent days is a bill regarding service sector employees having only one day off in ten days.
Meaning, work for 30 days, rest for 3 hours. That's it.
“What more could a worker want?”
And then they say:
“So you can't go on vacation... Well, what would you do if you went? Go to Marmaris and watch young people dancing nonsensically?”
Everyone should just sit where they are. Turn on the television.
Watch how the country is soaring (!).
Did you say vacation? Come on... Who are you to go on vacation!
