Who will benefit from the UK's new investor visa?

The UK is pursuing a new investor visa.

It doesn't just want money; it also wants "science, artificial intelligence, and to breathe with hydrogen."

It sounds nice.

However, this visa does not knock on the door of everyone who has money.

This time, they are not just asking the investor for money, but for "ethical money."

They say:

"You must have at least 3 million pounds... but you must also properly demonstrate its source. Don't come with a suitcase, my friend, come through a bank."

The British, who have been trying to find a solution to the immigration problem for a long time, never close their doors to immigrants who have money or are qualified. In our country, the "come as you are" mentality continues. We are even a detention camp for immigrants that Europe does not want!

THE COLOR OF MONEY MATTERS

The UK's new visa plan is currently in the draft stage, but some details have surfaced. For example: The minimum investment amount will be 3 million pounds. This money must have been obtained through legal means. It will be explained, documented, and if necessary, even their grandfather will be investigated.

There will be a requirement to live in the UK for at least 6 months. In other words, this visa does not work with the "I'll invest my money and go back to Bodrum" mindset. The investment is not just money; it must also provide a contribution. It will have an impact on the UK's economy, technology, and employment. Moreover, the investment is expected to be in areas such as clean energy, biotechnology, or artificial intelligence. Not real estate. And certainly not a kebab shop chain.

And perhaps the most crucial point:

With the visa, it will be possible to obtain indefinite leave to remain (ILR) within 3 to 5 years.

Provided that your investment impresses the UK, of course.

Things do not progress quite so "scientifically" for those who receive a skilled worker visa.

Some of those who entered as IT specialists became kebab shop workers in London,

those shown as software engineers are washing dishes in Camden.

Because consulting firms charge immigrants nearly 20 thousand pounds under the name of "job placement fees," and it turns out that the person who arrives is made to work 60 hours a week.

A legal salary is shown, but two-thirds of that salary is taken back in cash.

It is practically a visa-based slavery system. In other words, you pay the company that sponsors you!

The UK Home Office is aware of these frauds.

Some companies with sponsor licenses have been placed under investigation, and some have been suspended.

But the ironic part is this: The kebab shop workers who come with visas are being questioned, but who will audit what the "investors" who will come with 3 million pounds are actually contributing to technology?

The government's goal is good: They say, "We are not giving the investor residency, we are giving them a vision." But we have watched this movie before.

The Tier 1 investor visa, which was abolished in 2022, also claimed to "contribute to the economy" but then turned into a quagmire of money laundering. It became a tunnel for Russian oligarchs to London.

Can an investor from Turkey apply for this visa? Yes, it is technically possible. But the investment is not just money; it is a PR job.

In other words, banks will show the source of the money, you will explain in detail in which field you will make the investment, your project will be scientific, and if possible, you will have a project partner approved by the British state.

The United Kingdom no longer asks, "Do you have money?"

It looks at, "Who is your money from, with which file, and with whom is it coming?"

So it is not just a matter of capital; it is a matter of connections, sector, and strategy.

And of course, a little bit of who you are...

But since in our country it is not who you are but who you know and from whom you receive tenders to find this capital that matters, those who will apply for this visa will again be the privileged ones.
