Who will put a stop to police violence?

Unimaginable police violence is taking place all over the world.

The police, whose primary job is to ensure the safety of citizens, are committing massacres with the weapons in their hands.

Just last night, in the German city of Mannheim, a Turkish man was killed by a barrage of police gunfire.

I was horrified when I watched the footage. A 49-year-old Turkish citizen, who was alleged to be suffering from mental health issues, was shot and killed by German police with 4 bullets in front of his family.

There is one man and dozens of police officers at the scene. He is walking toward the police; sure, there might be a security issue here, but it is incomprehensible that a man who could have been neutralized without being killed—by a shot to the leg, for instance—was massacred with 4 bullets!

Will no one put a stop to these police officers who see themselves as having the authority to take a life?

Who gives them this power?

Is it only in Germany? Every day, we read news about people losing their lives to police violence in the US.

The killing of George Floyd by pressing on his neck while he was being detained shook the world, but we continue to read news every day about people being shot and killed by police all over the world for failing to comply with a stop order or after committing a minor offense.

Should we immediately shoot people who are acting out, who might potentially commit a crime, who are having a mental breakdown, or who are mentally ill?

Is the only solution to execute them by firing squad?

In the US, a video of police officers repeatedly firing at and killing a Black woman who failed to comply with a stop order also shook the agenda in recent months.

It was later revealed that the woman was pregnant, that she had panicked and pressed the gas instead of the brake, and that the police had showered her with bullets because they thought she was fleeing.

Is human life this cheap?

Must dozens of trained police officers immediately kill to neutralize a person?

If we cannot trust the police, who will we trust?

If law enforcement agencies, who are tasked with ensuring the safety of citizens, act like murderers in situations that could be resolved through persuasion even by a sane person, to whom is our safety entrusted?

With this incident in Germany, it has been seen once again that not all security forces in the world receive adequate training.

We used to write news like this: “The suspect was caught after being shot in the leg by security forces.”

Is the only way to neutralize someone who only has a cutting tool in their hand to fire repeatedly and kill them?

It is truly impossible to understand; the fact that police are so prone to violence everywhere in the world is starting to become frightening…

Lack of training is spreading like a virus…
