Standing is grounds for detention, jumping is a crime! Is it possible to keep one's mind and heart sound?

Don't leave your news choices to an algorithm - decide for yourself what you read. Add 12punto to your preferred sources!

Sometimes you just want to stand still. To stop for a moment in the middle of the hustle, the noise, and the chaos to catch your breath… Perhaps in a corner, perhaps on the edge of a square. You stand. You don't speak, you don't chant slogans, you don't shout.

You simply exist. But at that moment, someone touches your shoulder: “You cannot stand here.”

And just like that, standing has been banned.

Last night, 15 young people who were performing a “standing man” protest in front of the AKM were detained.

If people in a country are being detained simply for standing, simply for existing, then one must ask what is still considered “normal” there. This is not just a matter of law, but also a matter of humanity. Because there is something beyond the laws: conscience.

We used to think that interference with where people walk or where they stand only happened in countries like Afghanistan or Iran.

You cannot stand, you cannot walk, you cannot laugh, you cannot jump. So how is one supposed to live?

As citizens, protecting our mental health is no longer just an individual effort; it is a form of patriotism.

Laughing, hoping, singing… These are the ways a people keep themselves standing.

Remaining upright like the trunk of a tree is sometimes impossible. But the roots are there. And we are each other's roots.

If even “standing” is a crime in a country, the real issue is not which side we are on, but which state of humanity we can manage to preserve.

Voicing the injustices we see, not leaving those who refuse to be silent alone, and looking out for one another is a vital prescription for protecting our mental health!
