The match, the monkey, and Mourinho!

The Galatasaray-Fenerbahçe derby has once again turned the Turkish agenda upside down. The events that took place after the match even overshadowed the match itself. I see that there are now pre-match and post-match phases.

Fenerbahçe's matches are not just 90 minutes either. There is the performance of the encounter on the pitch, and then there is Jose Mourinho's performance in the press conferences.

My observation is that Fenerbahçe has become very accustomed to this two-act style of play this season.

Their performance in the Galatasaray match was not neck-and-neck. They played strategically. They prioritized not losing over winning. In my opinion, it resulted in a mediocre match.

However, the real match was the one in the press conferences.

Okan Buruk called Mourinho the “Crying one.” In other words, he said, "Mourinho is a crybaby." Mourinho, on the other hand, made a much more controversial statement.

He said of the Galatasaray players' approach, “They jump around like monkeys.”

Mourinho, who has been referred to the disciplinary committee due to these remarks, is expected to receive a suspension of at least 2 to 4 matches.

The real problem for Mourinho is that Galatasaray is complaining to UEFA. UEFA is very sensitive about racism. He could face a heavy penalty.

The climate of this country has not been good for Mourinho, who came to Turkey after a glamorous career. He has become increasingly aggressive.

Mourinho is used to playing matches on two fronts, but there are harsh winds in Turkey that even he cannot manage. These winds could sweep Mourinho away as well. A racism accusation could harm even him.

This geography is a different geography. For the first time, even a 'warrior' coach like Mourinho might lose a battle off the pitch.
