We are tired!

Waking up every morning to a new stress, a new uncertainty... Being left alone every evening with the question, "Today has passed, but what will happen tomorrow?" Being shaken by wave after wave of detention operations.

On the metro, on the Marmaray, on the road, at work, at home, people's faces are sullen, their eyes are distant; people are tired. This is not just a physical fatigue; it is a fatigue that comes from the heart, from the soul. People are no longer tired from sleepless nights, but from losing their hope.

Turkey is ranked 107th in the corruption index. Caught in the grip of an economy of poverty and deprivation, waking up every day to taxes, new price hikes, and new restrictions creates a constant state of anxiety and alertness in people.

The gates of Silivri are opened for those who raise their voices or object. In the police intervention that took place during the Gezi commemoration last night, 87 more people were detained.

This is not just a security measure. This is another knot tied to the suppressed voice of society. Even a commemoration is now seen as a threat. Yet, people just want to remember, not to forget what they have lived through, and to light a candle for those they have lost. That is all.

But in this country, even coming together is now a courageous act in itself. Fear, anger, and distrust have surrounded society. Everyone is on edge, everyone is on the defensive. No one is listening to anyone else; because everyone is trying to make themselves heard. We have forgotten how to listen to one another.

But what will heal us is to turn back to each other. To stand side by side, to find ways to live together with our differences. Because this fatigue can only pass by resting together. This resentment can only be repaired by understanding one another.

A country stands tall not just with roads and bridges, but with hope, trust, and love. And that hope, that trust, is slowly slipping through our fingers. It is not too late. We can still listen to each other's voices and heal our wounds together.

As long as we first admit it: We are tired.
