İmamoğlu without losing a single vote

The IYI Party General Administrative Board's incomprehensible 'strategy' for the local elections, which I summarize as 'lose-make others lose', continues.

Last week, I shared important information from within the IYI Party. I summarized that the IYI Party's decision to run alone in the local elections, which plays into the hands of the Palace, has caused great discomfort within the party, especially among members of parliament, and that this cannot be explained to the voter base.

The exodus from the party continues. Most recently, one of the IYI Party's most qualified and well-equipped figures, Deputy Chair Ece Güner, has resigned.

Her resignation letter actually summarizes the kind of drift the IYI Party leadership is in, despite its voters' desire for cooperation. I am quoting it exactly;

“ISTANBUL IS NOT JUST ISTANBUL”

“Today is a very difficult day for me…. Before explaining the reason, I want to talk a little about Istanbul…. Losing Istanbul is a matter of the nation, a matter of the Republic, a matter of democracy. If Istanbul is lost: A dark 'one-man system' will be established, where power intoxication has peaked and there are no obstacles left. We will drift even further away from the values of the Republic.

The project to Middle-Easternize our country will grow even stronger.

Our nation will become even POORER, but it will no longer have the morale or strength to change this situation: Our nation will disconnect from politics, and even come to hate politics.

That is the day democracy will truly die.

Istanbul is not just Istanbul: Istanbul is the heart of Turkey, where our people from every corner of Turkey meet; it is the summary of Turkey.

“IF WE SPLIT THE VOTES IN ISTANBUL, THE AK PARTY CANDIDATE WILL WIN”

If you think I am exaggerating, it is enough to ask yourself just this one question: Why is Mr. Erdoğan's only goal, his only dream, to win Istanbul again? Why, when he had won all of Turkey on May 28, did he say 'We must win Istanbul again' in his first speech?

In March 2019, Mr. İmamoğlu won the 'first' election by a margin of only 14,000 votes: A difference of around 0.1% of the votes... One in a thousand... In this election, even 1 vote will matter!

The government will focus all its power on winning Istanbul: With all its "disproportionate" power. If we split the votes, the AK Party candidate will win. This is a concrete fact.

Therefore, my conscientious conviction is this; because he is the only candidate who can win (and a successful Metropolitan Mayor), we must all—without losing even a single vote—support Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu in winning Istanbul again.

This is not a party matter;

THIS IS A MATTER OF THE NATION.

THIS IS A MATTER OF THE REPUBLIC.

Yes, as Ece Güner said, handing over municipalities to the Palace in local elections is a matter of the Republic and means the end of Atatürk's Turkey and the struggle for enlightenment.

The IYI Party voter, in the words of CHP leader Özgür Özel, consists of good people.

When good people encounter the right candidates in local elections, they will never allow the darkness of the AKP.
