Livelihood in the Palace's Ruins… The Minimum Wage Should Be 50 Thousand TL!

The debate over what the minimum wage will be continues…

Let me share a headline from a brilliant analysis by 12 Punto columnist Meriç Köyatası;

To return to the purchasing power of 2018 in Turkey, the minimum wage should be 50 thousand TL!

It is pointless to write long sentences; it is a clear indicator of how millions of people have had their lives stolen from them day by day and how they have become impoverished over the last 5 years.

Unlike in developed countries, more than half of public sector employees and 70 percent of private sector employees earn the minimum wage!

From university graduates to those who dropped out of primary school… From engineers to cashiers… The government has equalized the entire country in hunger and poverty!

I spoke with DİSK President Arzu Çerkezoğlu on the program 'Anında Manşet' (Headline Instantly), which I prepare and host on TELE 1.

'It is meaningless to talk about a minimum wage figure; whatever you say today loses its meaning in two months,' she said. According to Çerkezoğlu, who stated that high inflation, especially in food prices, is eroding wages, the minimum wage should be updated 4 times a year.

The minimum wage has turned into Turkey's average wage. Meanwhile, the AKP is busy fattening up its supporters from public resources, state tenders, and the country's natural resources; by creating 'coupon plots' from forests and coastlines!

Those who do not fit into the 1100-room Palace are the creators of a hell where one-room apartments are rented out for 30 thousand TL.

Landlords who ask for 45 thousand TL for a house that had a rent of 9 thousand TL last year… They ask for it because those houses are being rented at those prices!

Our country is not at war… However, it is experiencing an economic disaster that could be caused by the destruction of war.

Erdoğan's stubbornness against economic science by claiming that interest is the cause and inflation is the result, his insistence on removing Central Bank governors from their seats for the sake of lowering interest rates, and his imposition of this wrong decision for more than two years despite all warnings and the deterioration in the economy, have turned price stability and the markets upside down.

When we go to the bakery, whether they charge 10 TL or 50 TL for a pastry… the reason we are not surprised is this!

As well as the fact that rents have skyrocketed to the point of insanity…

The economy has lost its balance!

When Erdoğan said in 2021 that he would lower interest rates based on 'Nass' (religious decree), the interest rate was not even 20 percent. Erdoğan, who said, "As a Muslim, I will continue to do what the Nas requires," had added, "I will not be with those who defend interest rates(...) I will continue my struggle until the end. The Nas is clear on this matter. When the Nas is clear, what is it to you or me?"

Yesterday, the Central Bank announced the final interest rate decision of the year. The Monetary Policy Committee (PPK) increased the policy rate, which is the one-week repo auction rate, by 250 basis points to 42.50 percent!

After the country was left in ruins, the return from 'Nass' was also dramatic!

I started the article with a headline from Meriç Köyatası, and I will end it with a summary of what he explained regarding the cause of the housing problem;

1- Erdoğan's 'NASS' stubbornness, which I mentioned above.

2- Turkey becoming open to black money, this being implemented and encouraged as a 'policy,' and black money concentrating in the real estate sector…

3- The sale of citizenship and the rise in real estate prices due to the foreigners flooding into our country…

Whatever is happening is the result of the decisions made by the AKP government…

It is the result of the Palace, the one-man rule, and their insistence on mistakes for which we cannot understand the reason…
