The CHP Did the Right Thing

We have lost our young heroes who were fighting against the treacherous terrorist organization PKK… 

12 martyrs in the same night… Last night, good news regarding the wounded soldiers reached the agencies. 

The AKP mentality, which lowered our flag out of grief when the Saudi King died, has still not declared a period of mourning…

So, were we surprised by the so-called protests that targeted the CHP following the deaths of our martyrs?

Mothers' hearts are scorched, fathers' hearts are set ablaze, and AKP sycophants have seized this national tragedy as an opportunity to try and label Özgür Özel as a terrorist sympathizer.

We were not surprised… This lack of conscience, which seeks to gain political leverage from a martyr's funeral, is not new, but this tired script is now deeply upsetting everyone as a nation. 

What do you mean? Is the CHP going to become a party that supports terrorism just because you say so? Are you going to create a terrorist supporter out of Özgür Özel and the party leadership? Who, other than the 'masses who would believe that a highway could be built to the moon'—to use the description of a former minister who got the job through his son-in-law status—would believe this?

You are the ones who set up courts in Habur, you are the ones who softened the name of terrorist leader Öcalan to 'İmralı', you are the ones who read his letter in public squares and sang his praises, and you are the ones who 'made them untouchable' while terrorists descended into cities with Kalashnikovs in their hands… 

No one believes anymore those who remained silent while the AKP was negotiating with Öcalan, only to target the CHP with forced interpretations and pretend to be nationalists. Those masks have fallen many times, and the truth has been revealed. 

If Erdoğan were to say 'Imralı again' tomorrow, those who are booing today would be applauding tomorrow.

We followed the same 'tactics' before the funeral ceremony of our martyr in Manisa as well… 

A troll storm on social media, booing at the funeral, and then statements from AKP officials along the lines of 'did you see how our people reacted'…

What is it; the CHP did not sign the joint declaration… Yet, at the same time, the CHP published its own statement condemning terrorism, calling for a national day of mourning, and questioning why and under what conditions our martyrs lost their lives, and whether there was any negligence. 

This stance by the CHP is the right one. I am sure that if the ruling partners had not signed it—that is, if the opposition parties had made a joint statement—the CHP would have signed that text as well. 

Özgür Özel explained very clearly why they did not sign it. 

"When the news of the martyrs came one after another, we said this: Let the Ministry of National Defense come and inform the parliament. Then, let us talk together about whether we will sign a declaration, whether we will take a joint stance, how we will fix the mistakes and errors, and how we will take initiative together so that no more martyrs are lost.

The answer was; 'You sign the declaration.' There is no such thing; if signing a declaration meant no more martyrs were lost, I would sign 5 thousand declarations a day," he said, and added; 

"We sign the declaration, they hang the flag, Erdoğan does propaganda, and everyone forgets until the next martyr. We are objecting so that it is not forgotten."

Yes, rhetoric until the next martyr…

What will happen to the rights of our martyrs who fell to the earth at a young age? What if there was negligence? Who will ask, who will investigate?

DO NOT FORGET THE OUTPOST RAIDS…

Remember, for many years in the fight against terrorism, we gave so many martyrs because the outposts were in pits, meaning they were in the wrong locations… There were outposts whose roofs would collapse if a stone were thrown at them. Discussing these issues and pointing out vulnerabilities was 'taboo!' So what happened? The issue reached the public, grew, and the necessary measures could only be taken after so many of our martyrs were lost. 

The renovated outposts made a great contribution to the safety of our soldiers.  

The government is responsible for the safety of both our soldiers and our police. If terror operations are necessary, they are carried out, and while they are being carried out, the safety of the Mehmetçik (Turkish soldier) is ensured to the maximum extent.

The opposition is right in its questions… The CHP has taken on alone what the other opposition parties should have actually done.

It has directed questions regarding the operation, especially for our Mehmetçik who serve in the region at the cost of their lives, starting with our martyrs. 

There is still no information from the government on this matter… Why?

The statement by CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel became a mirror of the feelings of millions of citizens. 

Let me end with that; 

"As the CHP, we believe that more must be done than just saying 'our hearts are burning' for these children of ours who gladly sacrificed their lives in the defense of the homeland. We no longer have the patience for the President to pontificate over our martyrs. We no longer have the patience for news like 'The Ministry of Family will renovate our martyr's mud-brick house in Tokat.' We have no patience left for A4 papers containing contentless condemnation texts and insincere signatures at the bottom. We are at a point where we no longer have the patience for those who do not value our martyrs as much as the King of Saudi Arabia, and whose treachery rivals that of terrorist organizations. We no longer have the patience for the rich 'making politics over the martyrdom of the poor.' We are at a point where we no longer have the patience for microphones echoing with politics right next to the coffins of our martyrs."
