Access to forest areas banned in Edirne

Due to the increase in human and vehicle traffic in forest regions and agricultural lands, which may lead to forest fires caused by intentional or negligent behavior, and the presence of high-risk meteorological conditions, additional measures have been deemed necessary in the fight against forest fires.

In this context, access to forest areas across the city has been restricted between June 10 and October 15.

AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES EXEMPT

Those working in forest production, as well as those engaged in agricultural activities such as farming, livestock breeding, and beekeeping, are exempt from the restriction.

While activities such as picnicking, sports, and hiking are permitted in forests or nature parks, the restriction decision prohibits lighting barbecues, using gas stoves, camping, smoking hookahs, and lighting any kind of fire in forest areas outside of these designated zones.

Furthermore, the burning of any kind of stubble, vineyard, garden, olive grove, or branches and vegetation collected from field cleaning is also prohibited.

Within the scope of the ban, the use of flammable materials such as fireworks and sky lanterns, which could cause forest fires, will not be permitted at weddings and similar events held near forest areas.

Administrative and judicial proceedings will be initiated against those who act in violation of the ban in accordance with the Forest Law No. 6831, the Turkish Penal Code, and the Law on Misdemeanors.
