Atatürk's attack order at Gallipoli has been deciphered
The attack order given by Atatürk during the Gallipoli Campaign has been deciphered. In the order sent to Mehmet Şefik Aker Bey, Atatürk says, 'I would like to see your successes in the light of day.' He emphasizes victory, stating that the attack must be carried out at all costs and that there must be no turning back.
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's attack order, written in his own handwriting 109 years ago during the Gallipoli Campaign, has been deciphered.
While the 'emphasis on victory' in the translated order draws attention, İsmail Kaşdemir, President of the Gallipoli Historical Site, stated, "In this order, personally written and signed by Mustafa Kemal, we see that he tells Şefik Aker Bey that the attack must be carried out at all costs, that there must be no turning back, and essentially says, 'I would like to see your successes in the light of day.'"
The Gallipoli Campaign Research Center houses many special documents, archives, and collection books related to the Gallipoli Campaign. The attack order written by 19th Division Commander Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in his own handwriting to Mehmet Şefik Bey 109 years ago is also among these special documents.
In the translated order, the phrase 'I would like to witness your successes in the light of day' demonstrates Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's belief in victory.
'A MINDSET THAT REVEALS DETERMINATION AND RESOLVE'
Gallipoli Historical Site President İsmail Kaşdemir pointed out that this order is very significant and said the following:
"Because it was written with a mindset that reveals the determination and resolve of the Turkish soldier to drive the enemy into the sea and push them back.
In this order, personally written and signed by Mustafa Kemal, we see that he tells Şefik Aker Bey that the attack must be carried out at all costs, that there must be no turning back, and essentially says, 'I would like to see your successes in the light of day.'"
