Confession from Doğukan Manço, who said 'My father's house was taken from me': 'I have been fighting for this for years...'
Barış Manço's son, Doğukan Manço, shared the details of his long-term struggle to reclaim the family heirloom home. Manço stated that the foreclosure process that took place years ago left deep marks on him and that he has made a great effort to bring the house back to their family.
Barış Manço's son, Doğukan Manço, revealed both his journey to keep his father's legacy alive and the emotional difficulties that led to their separation from the family home during a television program he appeared on. Manço explained that the process they went through regarding the family home in 2002, following his father's death, created a deep void in him and that he has been fighting intensely for the house to return to the Manço family ever since.
On the program, Manço also drew attention to the traces Barış Manço left on society. Emphasizing that the famous artist is one of Turkey's important values with both his music and the cultural impact he created, Doğukan Manço underlined that keeping his father's memory alive is both a duty and a spiritual debt for him. "My father was not just an artist who made songs. There is a huge generation that he raised and influenced," he said, noting that Barış Manço's social impact continues even today.
Speaking about the foreclosure and separation process regarding the family home, Manço expressed that the incident in 2002 created an unforgettable turning point in his life, and that he felt the effects of the injustice they experienced, in addition to the financial difficulties they faced at the time, for many years. Recalling the promise he made after their home was taken from them, Manço said, "In 2002, I was removed from my home in a very unfair way emotionally. My father's house was taken from me. I swore that one day I would get that house back. I have been fighting for this for years. I worked hard and saved that money. I didn't save up for a house to live in myself, but so that it would find its place spiritually."
Explaining that they are also in contact with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to keep Barış Manço's memory alive, Doğukan Manço added that they continue to pass on his father's legacy to new generations through various projects.
