Dispute from 18 years ago on the set of Akasya Durağı ends up in court

The incident, which hit the agenda like a bombshell, began with past-related statements made by Fatih Uçan, who played the character of “Ali Kemal” in the series. Fatih Uçan alleged that years ago on the set of Akasya Durağı, Melek Baykal slapped her co-star Zeynep Dörtkardeşler. Following this claim, Melek Baykal filed a criminal complaint against Fatih Uçan, arguing that she was being subjected to baseless accusations. The former colleagues have taken their dispute to court, and both sides are now defending their rights through the judicial process.

In the petition submitted to the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office through her lawyer Bilal Küçükşengün, Baykal stated that the statements made about her constituted “character assassination.” The complaint petition included the following statements:

“In an interview given to a newspaper, Fatih Uçan claimed that my client slapped Zeynep Dörtkardeşler and subjected her to physical violence. These are entirely untrue statements. In fact, the aforementioned Zeynep Dörtkardeşler has also denied these allegations in clear and definitive terms. Uçan has humiliated my client in the public eye and has engaged in psychological violence and stalking. We are filing a complaint against Fatih Uçan, who has disturbed my client's peace and tranquility, made slanderous claims, and severely damaged her personal rights.”

As Baykal's pursuit of justice began following the growing reactions to Fatih Uçan's claims, a counter-move came from Uçan. Fatih Uçan, who arrived at the courthouse to give his statement, announced that he would file a counter-lawsuit, claiming that his own rights had also been violated. Uçan defended the incident with the following words:

“After the slap Melek Hanım gave to Zeynep Dörtkardeşler, there was a great silence on the entire set. This slap was not a slap thrown for the script or for the sake of the series. It was a completely behind-the-scenes situation caused by Melek Baykal's fatigue because Zeynep Hanım forgot her lines and could not get into character at that moment. With her statements, Melek Baykal portrayed me to the public as a liar and a slanderer. During this process, even my social media accounts were shut down. I never deserved this, so I am also filing a complaint against her and want to be a plaintiff.”

Thus, a set dispute alleged to have occurred on a series that ended years ago has been brought back to Turkey's agenda with mutual accusations from the parties involved. It remains a matter of curiosity how this legal process between the former actors of the Akasya Durağı series will conclude.
