The work titled "The Woman Who Gifted Us Nemrut," written by veteran journalist, author, and Press Council High Board member Doğan Satmış, has been released.
The work, which focuses on the famous American archaeologist Theresa Goell—who conducted studies in Turkey and is known for her work on Mount Nemrut—presents Goell's archaeological journeys from Tarsus to Malatya, and from Ankara to Adıyaman and even Gaziantep, to the reader in a literary style.
WHO IS DOĞAN SATMIŞ?
Doğan Satmış, one of the important names in the Turkish press, began his journalism career as a reporter at Anadolu Agency and later worked as a night editor at Günaydın and Bugün newspapers. Satmış, who served as the managing editor at Hürriyet for 17 years, became Hürriyet's first Reader Representative (Ombudsman) and held this position for 5 years.
He was a member of the World Ombudsman Association. He served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief at Sabah newspaper. In 2009, he was among the founders of Habertürk newspaper. In 2002, he was selected as "Journalist of the Year" in the research category by the Turkish Journalists Association. He served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Turkish Journalists Association. He served on the Turkey Committee of the International Press Institute (IPI). Doğan Satmış is currently a member of the Press Council High Board and a columnist for 12punto.
