According to the statement made by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum, located in the historic Defter-i Hakani building in Sultanahmet Square, showcases the 1700-year history of Hagia Sophia through unique storytelling and artifacts, many of which are being exhibited for the first time.
In particular, the bronze medallion designed by the Fossati brothers, which covers the faces of the Seraphim angels in Hagia Sophia, is among the must-see works.
The museum, which exhibits 204 unique pieces, 30 of which are new, will offer a 50 percent discount exclusively to Republic of Turkey citizens between May 18 and 26, which also covers Museums Week.
The museum, which is open to visitors every day from 09:00 to 19:00, will be open until 21:00 specifically for May 18, International Museum Day.
The Ephesus Experience Museum, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and located within the Ancient City of Ephesus in the Selçuk district of İzmir, will also open its doors to Republic of Turkey citizens with a 50 percent discount between May 18 and 26.
Located inside the Ancient City of Ephesus, right across from the famous Ancient Theater, and open every day from 08:00 to 23:30, the Ephesus Experience Museum allows visitors to experience life in Ancient Ephesus.
The Ephesus Experience Museum, one of the first examples of experience-based museology in Turkey and developed by DEM Müzecilik, was also included in the "night museology" initiative, which began with the opening of the museum to domestic and foreign tourists for night visits under the auspices of the Ministry.
