New season excitement at ENKA Arts

ENKA Arts will open its new season on Tuesday evening, November 4, with the premiere of concert pianist Burçin Büke’s project titled “From Classical to Jazz: A Musical Journey.” While the concert offers audiences a versatile musical experience with interpretations ranging from classical music to jazz tones, the artist’s Piano Sonata, a work he has been working on for a long time, will be performed for the first time. Burçin Büke will be accompanied on stage by Eylem Pelit (bass guitar) and Volkan Öktem (drums).

On Tuesday evening, December 2, the ENKA Auditorium will host the “Classical Touches of Music” concert featuring world-renowned Italian violinist Davide Alogna and one of Turkey’s distinguished pianists, Cana Gürmen. The duo will appear before the audience with an exclusive repertoire reflecting the elegance of classical music. The work “Second New Songs,” in which conductor and composer Murat Cem Orhan brings modern Turkish poetry to the stage through the common language of music, theater, and literature, will meet the audience on Thursday evening, December 11. In the project, Mert Fırat will portray the poets and perform the songs, while Evrim Özkaynak will interpret Tomris Uyar. Orhan will be accompanied on stage by Özcan Yılmaz (violin), Burak Kayan (viola), and Burak Ayrancı (cello).

YOUNG TALENTS ON STAGE

Young musicians supported by the Lale Tara Art Scholarship are meeting on the ENKA stage. In the concert organized within this scope, the first generation of scholarship recipients Efe Şen (piano) and Yağmur Tuna (violin) will appear before the audience with a program consisting of distinguished works from the classical music repertoire. Master pianist Gökhan Aybulus will accompany Yağmur Tuna in the concert.

The concert will take place on Thursday evening, December 18. In the season’s closing concert, one of our country’s leading chamber music ensembles, the Borusan Quartet, will take the stage with a “New Year’s Concert.” In the concert to be held on Tuesday evening, December 23, after Marin Goleminov’s “Five Sketches for String Quartet” and Fazıl Say’s “Divorce, Op. 29,” unforgettable works by Astor Piazzolla such as “La muerte del Angel,” “Oblivion,” and “Adios Nonino” will be performed.

THEATER TIME AT ENKA

ENKA Arts is preparing to meet theater lovers with a selection of the most talked-about productions of the recent period. On Tuesday evening, November 18, Canadian playwright Morris Panych’s world-renowned dark comedy “The Dishwashers” will be staged. Directed by Işıl Kasapoğlu, the play will star Özge Özpirinçci, Ahsen Eroğlu, Şebnem Sönmez, and Ekin Eryılmaz. Drawing attention as the first version to be staged with female actors, the production will hold a mirror to the system, class distinctions, and invisible labor through the language of dark humor.

“Lynchings and Lips,” to be staged on Tuesday evening, November 25, is a striking production written and directed by Halil Babür, featuring Cihat Süvarioğlu, Hare Sürel, Onur Gürçay, İlyas Özçakır, and Ceren Köse. Focusing on the themes of aging, adapting, and being right, the play will tell the story of the inner collapse of Cemal, who was once a sophisticated writer but has turned into an internet phenomenon. “Tebdil,” signed by the award-winning young generation writer and director Ahmet Sami Özbudak, will meet theater lovers on Thursday evening, November 27. Starring Burak Üzen, Erkan Akbulut, Fehmi Karaarslan, Gülşah Fırıncıoğlu, Özge Borak, and Onur Erdemir, the play will focus on twin siblings from different worlds facing each other years later following a mysterious invitation. “Tebdil” will offer a poignant story centered around the themes of family, identity, and reckoning with the past.

“Does Love End?”, one of the most talked-about productions of the year, directed by Işıl Kasapoğlu and written by Serhat Yiğit, will invite art lovers to explore a love story woven with poetry at the ENKA Auditorium on Thursday evening, December 4. In the play starring Kerem Alışık and Evrim Alasya, two former lovers who meet years later will face each other and seek an answer to the question, “Does love end?” “Pressure Cooker on Low Heat,” written by Emir Taha Sarı, directed by İrem Kalaycıoğlu, and starring Emre Yıldızlar, İlyas Özçakır, Gül Doğa Selvi, Ferhat Teymur, Onur Akbay, and Yusuf Sarıaslan, will be watched on Tuesday evening, December 9. The play will bring to the stage the life full of confrontations of a character who will continue his father’s fate as well as his father’s profession, through the story of Bekir, whose inner world becomes more complex as the chaos in the kitchen grows.
