The new voice of Fado is coming to Turkey
Portuguese artist Cláudia Madeira, known as one of the most impressive representatives of the new generation of Fado music, is coming to Istanbul.
Cláudia Madeira, one of the new representatives of Fado music, is preparing to offer music lovers in Istanbul an unforgettable Fado feast on the evening of October 22. The concert, which will take place at the Atlas Cinema, will also feature Miguel Silva on Portuguese guitar and Domingos Silva on classical guitar.
The youngest child of a modest family of winemakers, Cláudia Madeira grew up among her six older brothers. While helping her father in the vineyards at a young age, she began singing Fado songs with his encouragement.
Madeira, who attended a Catholic school, also began receiving music and vocal training there. She gained nationwide recognition in 2007 by participating in the third season of the national talent competition Operação Triunfo, where she brought Fado back into the spotlight. Following the competition, she performed as a soloist on various morning programs broadcast on the RTP1 channel.
With her first album, Fado fora de Portas, which she introduced at the Douro Museum in 2012, she brought a new spirit to Fado as an artist born outside of Lisbon. Her second album, Caminho, released in 2019, symbolizes her musical journey with selections from the early years of her career. Inspired by her roots, Cláudia Madeira continues to share Fado with the world by carrying it beyond the borders of Lisbon.
Today, Cláudia Madeira performs regularly in the most exclusive Fado houses in Lisbon and Porto; she also performs in countries such as Canada, the USA, Brazil, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, China, Spain, Romania, Switzerland, and Germany.
