The theater world is in mourning: Hüseyin Goncagül has passed away

Theater artist Hüseyin Goncagül has passed away at the age of 70 following heart surgery.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced the news of Hüseyin Goncagül's passing on its social media account with the following statement:

We have learned with deep sorrow of the passing of Hüseyin Goncagül, a precious name in Turkish theater and an artist who left a mark on our hearts. Our artist, who earned a unique place in our nation's memory with his versatile work ranging from theater to radio and television, and from cultural productions for children to education, conquered hearts with his grace, stance, and language of the heart. We wish God's mercy upon the deceased; we extend our condolences to his family, his loved ones, and our art community.

WHO IS HÜSEYİN GONCAGÜL?

A Turkish theater artist, educator, and program producer. Born in Istanbul, Goncagül began his artistic career at the State Theaters in 1970 and stood out particularly in the field of children's theater. After teaching for 13 years, he rose to fame in 1984 with the play 'İnsanlar ve Soytarılar' (People and Clowns).

In the 1990s, he worked in television, hosting programs such as 'İstanbul Kazan Ben Kepçe' on Kanal 7. He served as a consultant at TRT Çocuk and carried out significant work in the field of children's theater. Goncagül, who was also a writer and radio programmer, organized cultural events in various European countries.
