Tourism Encyclopedia goes live online

The Turkey Tourism Encyclopedia, which was published in 16 volumes last year, has been made accessible online. The encyclopedia, to which 2,128 authors contributed by writing 8,409 entries, will continue to expand with new entries to be added.

Tourism Encyclopedia goes live online

The Turkey Tourism Encyclopedia, which can be accessed by people of all ages online, has been prepared with unique software to be easily accessible by both authors and readers. Entries in the encyclopedia can be reached simply through categories, related entries, and tag headings, and users can also access and examine the entries of authors collectively.

Coordinator of the Turkey Tourism Encyclopedia Prof. Dr. Nazmi Kozak stated that the online encyclopedia includes all kinds of topics related to and associated with the field of tourism in Turkey, adding, "We aim for society to benefit from the encyclopedia, where reliable information regarding concepts, institutions, organizations, and individuals will be open-access.

I would like to remind you that all kinds of topics related to tourism, whether from the past or the present, have been included in the scope of the Turkey Tourism Encyclopedia," he said.

EVERYTHING ABOUT TOURISM

Prof. Dr. Kozak lists the fields and main headings covered by the entries in the Turkey Tourism Encyclopedia as follows:

"It includes information on destinations, entertainment businesses (casinos, bars, nightclubs), events (fairs, festivals, special events, etc.), gastronomy, airports, airline companies, provincial directorates of culture and tourism, statistics and research, camps and campsites, thermal springs, concepts, excavations and surface surveys, caravanserais and inns, accommodation businesses (hotels, holiday villages, pensions, etc.), cultural heritage (mosques, churches, inns, baths, historical artifacts), museums, bus companies, bus terminals, travel agencies and tour operators, travelers and travelogues, train stations, public institutions in the field of tourism, individuals in the field of tourism, non-governmental organizations in the field of tourism, periodicals in the field of tourism, tourism education institutions (certificate programs, high school, associate, undergraduate, and graduate level tourism departments and programs), plans and projects related to tourism, legal regulations related to tourism, aircraft models, yachts and marinas, food and beverage businesses, and tourism-related institutions and organizations abroad."
