Volkan Konak responds to claims that he 'quit music'
Artist Volkan Konak shared a post on his social media account stating, "I will not sing in this disloyal and loveless political choir. Therefore, erase me. I am not here." The artist, who was alleged to have quit music, made a new statement following these claims.
Famous artist Volkan Konak had shared a post stating, "In our country and in the Middle East, political parties are either cults or one-man systems, and they are areas for politicians to enrich themselves. I will not sing in this disloyal and loveless political choir. Therefore, erase me, I am not here," and following these words, it was alleged that he had quit music.
Sharing a post on social media, Konak stated that he was misunderstood and that he would continue to make music.
The statement made by Volkan Konak is as follows:
"Friends; it seems what I said was misunderstood, I stated that I would not sing in a political choir. As always, I will continue to sing my songs in the choir of honest, civilized, and noble people. Final word; long live love, long live science, long live art," he said.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Criticizing the fact that Diyanet (Presidency of Religious Affairs) personnel receive salaries from taxes collected from entertainment venues, Volkan Konak had said that he drank a glass for them on New Year's Eve, contributing to their salaries.
Upon this, Diyanet filed a criminal complaint against Konak.
In the statement made by Diyanet, it was claimed that in the post Konak made on his social media account, he "offended and violated the personal rights of the Presidency of Religious Affairs, which is tasked by law with 'carrying out works related to the beliefs, worship, and moral principles of the Islamic religion, enlightening the society on religious matters, and managing places of worship,' and its highest representative, Ali Erbaş."
