1 worker had lost their life: 6 suspects in the pasta factory explosion in Sakarya are at the courthouse
Six suspects detained in connection with the explosion at a pasta factory in the Hendek district of Sakarya, which left one person dead and 30 injured, have been brought to the courthouse.
As part of the investigation launched by the Hendek Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 7 suspects, including the factory owners and managers, were summoned to provide statements.
Following questioning and procedures at the prosecutor's office, detention orders were issued for 6 of the 7 suspects who arrived at the Hendek Courthouse.
The 6 detained suspects, including factory owners and managers, were taken to the police station. One suspect who provided a statement was released.
The 6 suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were brought back to the Hendek Courthouse after undergoing health checks.
The proceedings for the suspects at the prosecutor's office are ongoing.
The 30 people injured in the explosion and subsequent fire that occurred at the pasta factory in the Hendek district on September 15 were taken to hospitals in the Hendek and Akyazı districts, as well as in Düzce and Kocaeli, by medical teams.
Deputy Minister of Health Halim Özçevik had announced that 30 people, including one child and 3 firefighters, were injured and that 2 people were intubated. During the cooling efforts, the lifeless body of worker Mesut Şimay (27) was recovered.
