Exactly 1000 days have passed since the February 6 earthquakes, but the latest images from Hatay show that the wounds in the city have still not healed.

Contrary to the rhetoric of government representatives claiming the city has "gotten back on its feet" and the pristine street footage served via drone, the situation in Hatay is far from encouraging.

In footage taken at a marketplace, it can be seen that there is no asphalt, women are carrying water in containers, and large piles of mud and uncollected trash have accumulated. The images reveal that not only urban transformation but also infrastructure and basic services remain inadequate.

The scene also poses serious health risks. Waste and trash accumulating in the mud increase the danger of infectious diseases, especially for children and the elderly.

Residents of Hatay are reactive: "They always gave us hope, but 1000 days have passed, and we are still carrying drinking water in jugs," they say.
