105 lawyers have filed a criminal complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the detentions and the obstruction of union rights during the Migros workers' resistance.

At a meeting held in the Istanbul Bar Association press room, the criminal complaint and the definitions of the crimes were listed as "The Crime of Obstructing the Exercise of Union Rights, The Crime of Violation of the Freedom of Work and Labor, and The Crime of Misconduct in Public Office." Migros boss Tuncay Özilhan, individuals listed in the Trade Registry Gazette as subcontractors, individuals listed in the Trade Registry Gazette for Migros, specifically identified individuals, Migros Ticaret A.Ş. executives to be determined ex officio, and law enforcement officers were named as suspects.

'JUST ONE PROSECUTOR...'

Av. Kerim Bütün, a member of the Lawyers' Voice Initiative, who initiated the press statement regarding the criminal complaint signed by 105 lawyers, stated that the complaint had been filed and handed the floor to DGD-SEN lawyer Mürsel Ünder. Ünder called on public officials and the prosecutor's office to perform their duties regarding the complaint. Ünder said, "We need just one prosecutor in Turkey who is not on the side of capital, who can stand against capital, and who can defend the rights of the worker."

'NOT JUST WAREHOUSE WORKERS'

Ünder emphasized that the resistance is a reality of society and concerns the entire working class. "Migros workers have been showing a very honorable resistance on the streets for days. We respectfully salute this resistance, which is not limited to warehouse workers, and the struggle led by the entire working class in Turkey through de facto resistance to escape the trap set for them, to fight against this poverty, and in an environment where wages are decreasing day by day," he said.

Ünder concluded the press statement by saying, "We would like to state that the resistance is at a very important and critical stage. Within the resistance, the workers are very close to a solution together with the union they have chosen."
