13-year-old girl dies after falling into elevator shaft from 5th floor

13-year-old Beren Su Bolat, who was trapped in an elevator with her friend in Ankara, lost her life after falling into the elevator shaft.

The tragic incident occurred in an apartment building in the Fevzi Çakmak neighborhood, where Bolat was visiting with her family.

Bolat and her friend became trapped in the elevator, which stopped between the 5th and 6th floors. When their relatives could not rescue the children, they notified the police and the fire department.

Upon arriving at the scene, the fire department teams rescued one of the children, but for reasons yet unknown, Beren Su Bolat fell into the elevator shaft. Medical teams confirmed that Bolat had lost her life.

'MOST BUILDINGS HAVE ISSUES'

Özgür Berber, who lives in the neighborhood, described the incident as follows: "Beren Su called my son and told him they were trapped in the elevator. My son told me. I said, 'Since it's not our building, we can't do anything, but let's find the building manager or a resident so they can help.' They called the fire department. The children were stuck on the 6th floor. The fire department opened the door from the 5th floor; there were two of them in the elevator. They rescued the boy, but while they were rescuing the girl, whether she slipped from their hands or they couldn't hold on, she fell down into the elevator shaft at that moment. Most of the buildings here have issues anyway. But every building has its own maintenance done. However, I have no information on why this happened."
