14-day ban in Siirt

In a written statement issued by the Siirt Governor's Office, it was stated that the decision was taken in consideration of serious indications that public order and security would be disrupted in a way that would stop or interrupt daily life, with the aim of preventing provocative actions that could damage national unity and solidarity, ensuring national security, public order and safety, protecting the fundamental characteristics of the republic and the indivisible integrity of the state with its country and nation, and preventing potential illegal actions to avoid regrettable incidents.

The statement said, "Due to the concern that the safety of life and property, the inviolability of the person, the security regarding the disposal of property, and public welfare would be difficult to ensure, all kinds of actions (gatherings, marches, press statements, indoor meetings, hunger strikes, sit-ins, rallies, setting up stands, pitching tents, distributing leaflets/brochures, hanging posters/banners, etc.) that may be held in open and closed areas (including the Gendarmerie region) within the provincial and district administrative boundaries, excluding events deemed appropriate by the governor's and district governor's offices, programs organized by public institutions and organizations, official holidays, official commemoration days, official ceremonies and celebrations, and sports activities, have been banned for 14 days from 00:01 on April 3, 2024, to 23:59 on April 16, 2024, in accordance with Articles 17 and 19 of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and Articles 11/A, B, and C of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
