14-month-old baby hospitalized: Other side speaks out on neighbor dispute in Yalova

Long-standing neighborly disputes between the Baca and E. families, who live in the same apartment building in the Esenköy town of Çınarcık district, have resulted in violence. It was learned that there had been repeated arguments between the Baca family, who moved into the building about a year ago with their four children, and the E. family over issues such as noise from children, parking usage, and illegal balcony enclosures.

ALLEGATION OF ATTACK WITH A SCOOTER

In the incident that occurred on February 20, 2026, 34-year-old Muhammed Baca was attacked by his neighbor Şener E. with a child's scooter while he was holding his 14-month-old daughter, İkra. During the scuffle, Muhammed Baca's nose was broken, and little İkra suffered a skull fracture. The father and daughter were taken under treatment at Yalova Training and Research Hospital.

Following the incident, Şener E. was detained and subsequently arrested by the court and sent to prison. Selvet E., who previously had a restraining order against her, was released.

"THE FEUD STARTED WITH A PARKING DISPUTE"

Selvet E. made statements regarding the history of the disagreement they had with Muhammed Baca. Stating that Muhammed Baca moved to the lower floor of the apartment about 7-8 months ago, Selvet E. claimed that the first tension arose due to vehicle parking. Selvet E. alleged that Muhammed Baca had repeatedly complained about them to law enforcement and the prosecutor's office, but all these applications resulted in non-prosecution.

"THE CHILD WAS NOT INTENTIONALLY HARMED"

Describing the day of the incident in detail, Selvet E. claimed that she went outside to call her children shortly before the iftar meal, and at that moment, Muhammed Baca cursed at her. Explaining that the environment became tense when the gendarmerie arrived at the scene, Selvet E. said that the parties attacked each other in the ensuing scuffle, and that law enforcement and citizens in the vicinity intervened to separate them.

Selvet E. claimed that the young child was injured by her mother inside the vehicle before the incident and that she fell to the ground during the incident, stating, "We absolutely did not assault the child or do anything to her intentionally in relation to this incident. My brother definitely did not assault the child or do anything to her," she said.

Furthermore, denying the allegations that bullets were left in front of their house, Selvet E. stated that she had received threatening messages directed at herself and her family after the incident and expressed concern for her safety.

GOVERNOR'S HOSPITAL VISIT

On the other hand, Ahmet Hamdi Usta visited the father and daughter who were injured in the incident at the hospital. In his statement, Governor Usta emphasized that Yalova is governed with an understanding of a state of law and said that no crime would go unpunished. He called for not giving credence to disinformative posts aimed at damaging social peace.
