While statements regarding the celebrations to be held in Istanbul for the 100th anniversary of the Republic are coming one after another, the statements made by the Istanbul Governor's Office have caused confusion.

As preparations for the 100th anniversary of our Republic reach their final stages, important events are planned in Istanbul. In this context, some roads and bridges will also be closed to traffic.

DIFFERENT STATEMENTS REGARDING THE 15 JULY MARTYRS BRIDGE

The Istanbul Governor's Office had announced that the 15 July Martyrs Bridge would be closed to vehicle traffic between certain hours on October 26, 27, 28, and 29 as part of the celebrations, and had warned Istanbul residents.

In the statement made by the Governor's Office:

"In accordance with the planning, the 15 July Martyrs Bridge will be closed to two-way vehicle traffic between 02.00-07.00 on Friday, October 27 (the night connecting October 26 to October 27), between 02.00-07.00 on Saturday, October 28 (the night connecting October 27 to October 28), and between 16.00-00.00 on Sunday, October 29 (until midnight on the same day)," it was stated.

HOURS LATER, A STATEMENT CAME THAT IT WOULD NOT BE CLOSED AFTER ALL

Hours after its announcement that it would be closed, the Governor's Office shared the information that the 15 July Martyrs Bridge would not be closed as part of the ceremonies. The following statements were included in the correction issued by the Governor's Office:

"A decision had been made to close the 15 July Martyrs Bridge to vehicle traffic between certain hours on October 26, 27, 28, and 29 as part of the October 29 Republic 100th Anniversary celebrations to be held under the auspices of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications.

As a result of the final examinations made by the organizing committee, an alternative area has been found where the activities to be held on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge will take place. Consequently, the decision to close the bridge has been lifted.

The events celebrating the 100th anniversary of our Republic will continue as planned.

Respectfully announced to the public."
