Shocking allegations in the July 15 trial: 'Akar gave instructions to Sönmezateş... He went to Akıncı to meet with Erdoğan, whom he thought had been captured'

Orhan Yıkılkan, who presented his defense during today's session of the trial held at the Sincan Prison Complex by the Ankara 17th High Criminal Court, began his remarks as follows:

“Time is the greatest interpreter. In my childhood, the May 27 coup was celebrated as a holiday, but now it is condemned by everyone. I believe we are going through a similar process. Today, July 15 is celebrated as a holiday, but it will be understood that it is not so.”

CD SHOCK FOR THE PRESIDING JUDGE AND THE PRESIDENTIAL LAWYER

Yıkılkan then addressed the Presiding Judge with the following allegation:

“I have received a CD. This CD contains photos and audio recordings of a meeting between you and the Presidential lawyer Süleyman Ayhan at a shopping mall on July 16 at 11:00 AM.”

Following this allegation, which had the effect of a bombshell in the courtroom, the Presiding Judge said, "Show it then."

When Yıkılkan stated he did not have it with him, the Judge replied, "It is a lie, a slander. I have never seen or spoken to Süleyman Ayhan outside of these hearings and the courthouse. Prove it."

As lawyer Ayhan also reacted by saying, "It is a lie," Yıkılkan continued:

“I am the witness; you were here on July 16 at 11:00 AM. I said this to explain something to you. I wanted you to experience this a little bit yourself; I apologize, excuse me. Some of the allegations against me involve exactly this kind of accusation. I had no other way to explain this. At first, I could only say that the allegations in question were not true. I had no images, HTS records, or reports in my possession. But the prosecutors had these, and despite that, they leveled these accusations. I was only able to reach all of this years later.”

"I WAS ACQUITTED OF THE ASSASSINATION PLOT AGAINST MELİH GÖKÇEK"

Following these remarks, Yıkılkan responded to the accusations against him based on General Staff camera footage, HTS records, and expert reports, emphasizing that although there were no images or minutes regarding a search of his office, it was claimed that certain records were found on his computer and that some notes were found in his diary.

Claiming that the documents in question were created as a result of subsequent tampering with his computer and that the notes were produced through montage, Yıkılkan said, "Come and remember the Balyoz case," and added:

“I was accused of planning assassinations against several names, primarily Melih Gökçek, based on a note stated to have been found in my diary. I was acquitted in the case opened for this reason. However, while Melih Gökçek still says, ‘An assassination was being planned against me,’ even those who are his political enemies cannot say that it was not so.”

HE TOLD THESE THINGS SAYING "FOR THE FIRST TIME"

While responding to the accusation that he had Hulusi Akar, for whom he had served as Private Secretary and Chief Advisor since 2011, detained, Orhan Yıkılkan first played the footage of Akar's departure from the General Staff to Akıncı and spoke as follows:

“If he was detained, if he was beaten, what is this footage? I did not see Akar detained, nor did I get such a feeling or idea.”

Then, saying, "Actually, what happened; I am telling this for the first time," he made the following allegations:

“When I went up to the command floor upon Private Secretary Ramazan Gözel saying that Akar was calling me, I saw that he was not detained; on the contrary, his command and control were continuing. He was giving orders to Mehmet Dişli, Levent Türkkan, Abdullah Bozkurt, and Serdar Tekin, and they were following these orders. One of the subjects he gave orders on was Gökhan Şahin Sönmezateş, whom he was speaking with. He had a special relationship with Sönmezateş. If there are phone records, let them be brought. He told the team that was going to pick up the President that the Presidential protection team at the hotel was prepared and that they should be cautious, taking this into account. Someone who says, ‘I did not accept the offer to lead the coup,’ does not say this to the team going to the hotel. Let him come here and say, ‘I did not say it.’ So why did he go to Akıncı? Someone wrongly told him, ‘The President and the MIT Undersecretary have been captured, this is over.’ Upon receiving this information, he himself wanted to go to Akıncı. His intention was to meet with the President and coordinate a peaceful transition. For this, İsmail Kahraman, Ahmet Davutoğlu, Abdullah Gül, and Hakan Fidan were to be involved. The reason he took Mehmet Dişli there was to have these political negotiations conducted. Every time Mehmet Dişli called me, he asked for the phone numbers of these people. Likewise, their numbers were also requested from Ramazan Gözel and Levent Türkkan. When he went and learned that the President was not there, he started waiting for the news of the capture.”

Yıkılkan will continue his defense tomorrow.
