15-year-old boy shot while playing with a rifle

In a tragic incident that occurred on March 19 in the İsmetpaşa neighborhood of the İnönü district in Eskişehir, one of four friends lost his life after being accidentally shot with a rifle. M.F.Y. (15) picked up his father's hunting rifle while at home with his friends Bünyamin Bozkurt (15), B.T. (15), and A.D. (15). According to allegations, the weapon suddenly discharged, and the pellets struck Bünyamin Bozkurt in the chest.

Emergency medical teams called to the scene arrived at the house shortly after, but despite their interventions, it was determined that 15-year-old Bünyamin Bozkurt had passed away. While police teams launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, M.F.Y., his father M.Y., and B.T. and A.D., who were present in the house at the time, were taken into custody.

Following his processing at the police station, M.F.Y. was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the court. His father, M.Y., and the other two friends were released under judicial control. In the incident, which caused great sorrow among his relatives, the funeral of the late Bünyamin Bozkurt was held following the completion of autopsy procedures.

Authorities emphasized the importance of storing firearms safely in homes to prevent similar tragedies and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
