19 people arrested in protests against İmamoğlu in Bursa
It has been reported that 19 people have been arrested during the Ekrem İmamoğlu protests in Bursa.
Following the corruption and terrorism investigations into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), 19 out of 52 suspects detained in connection with unauthorized demonstrations in Bursa have been arrested.
Protest actions that began following the corruption charges against İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu continue.
While many people have been detained across the country, a statement from the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the investigation conducted for the crime of "violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911" reported that 52 people were detained by officers from the Bursa Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch and Security Branch.
The statement included the following remarks:
"Our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office referred 26 suspects to the Bursa Duty Magistrate Court with a request for arrest, and 26 suspects with a request for judicial control. The duty magistrate decided to arrest 19 suspects and impose judicial control on 33 suspects; the suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued have been sent to the appropriate Closed Penal Institution. Our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting the investigation meticulously, and the public will be informed about the progress and outcome of the investigation."
