2 arrested following workplace fatality in Sincan

Two people have been arrested in connection with the workplace fatality in Ankara's Sincan district that claimed the lives of 3 workers.

The incident occurred the day before yesterday in the Törekent neighborhood when scaffolding on the 12th floor of an apartment building under construction collapsed while the exterior was being painted.

The workers on the collapsing scaffolding, brothers Çetin and Volkan Buru, along with Mertcan Buru, fell to the ground. Çetin and Volkan Buru died at the scene, while Mertcan Buru passed away at the hospital where he had been taken. The funerals for the 3 workers were held yesterday at the Sincan Cimşit Cemetery.

As part of the investigation into the incident, 6 people, including an occupational safety specialist, a company official, and a site manager, were taken into custody.

Following the completion of their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse and brought before the Duty Magistrate's Court.

Suspects H.Ç. and L.F. were arrested on charges of 'causing the death of more than one person through negligence.'

O.Y. and F.A. were released under house arrest, while H.A. and F.Ş. were released under judicial control conditions, including a travel ban and a requirement to sign in on specific days.
