WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
A missing persons report was filed for Gülistan Doku, a student at Munzur University in Tunceli, on January 5, 2020, after her family could not reach her. No trace has been found during the intensive search efforts carried out since that date. Following new information obtained during the investigation process, the prosecutor's office had launched a multi-faceted inquiry.
To date, a total of 15 suspects have been detained in connection with the disappearance of Gülistan Doku on various charges, including "intentional homicide," "sexual assault," "tampering with evidence," "unauthorized access to information systems and data destruction," "deprivation of liberty," "failure to report a crime," and "harboring a criminal." These individuals included public officials from that period, relatives of Doku, and hospital staff.
During the period when Doku disappeared, allegations regarding the deletion of various digital and physical evidence within the scope of the investigation had also come to the fore. In this context, in addition to many individuals currently in custody, travel bans were imposed on some suspects, while others were released under judicial control conditions.
It was learned that requests for Red Notices have been issued for fugitive suspects, including those determined to be abroad. In the Gülistan Doku investigation, which is closely followed by the public in Tunceli, the collection of new information and documents from relevant institutions continues.
